Interesting comments from Robins saying he wants some players to go out and get game time in the Jan window. Potentially:

Pask
Hilsner
Jobello
Kasta
Bapaga
Baka

Interesting reading that now we’ve left the EU it will make it easier for PL and Champ clubs to buy South American players.

better days

More harder to sign Eu players I think is the point
Tbh football will find a way to game the rules
The UK has reduced the minimum wage threshold to something like £25k per year for anyone who has a guaranteed job
It will stop clubs hoovering up European youngsters for their Academies though

From what I can tell, we wouldn't have been able to sign Hamer under the new rules. But it does make it easier to sign South American players if they've played in the Copa Libertadores.

why wouldn’t we?

I don't think it is any easier to sign South Americans. I think the point is now that it is as difficult to sign EU players as those from elsewhere

It is easier...if they play in the Copa Libertadores or Copa Sudamericana.

They are now treated as equal to the Champions League and Europa League in importance and provide a high number of work permit qualifying points. Whereas before these players would've needed international caps, now you can pretty much sign any player from South America if they're a starter in Brazil or Argentina and they play in continental competitions.

But yes, now essentially players from all over the world are on equal footing - if they play in good enough competition.

So if we wanted to sign a player from the French 2nd division it is more difficult than somebody who has played in the tournaments mentioned?

ROBINS HOPING TO DO SOME TRANSFER MARKET BUSINESS

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has told the club website that he is hoping to do some business in the transfer market.

Robins said: "We’ve done okay this season, we’ve played some brilliant football and we’ve lost some games we’ve deserved to win, we’ve deserved to pick up more points than we’ve got, but we haven’t got them so we need to double down and make sure that we keep going.

“It’s been very difficult because we’ve not been able to train, it’s just been game after game after game and injury after injury which means that we’ve not been able to get our strongest possible team out on the pitch.

“Hopefully we can add some quality to the team and to the group, they’ve been brilliant, they’ve given me everything that they’ve got, they’re getting to grips with the level and we just have to keep going and keep working towards our goals.

“I’m definitely looking to do some business in January as soon as the window opens, fingers crossed, the club have been brilliant, during this time it’s very difficult, I want some players to go out and get some games.

“We need a little bit of help in terms of numbers, but we need a bit more quality in there to help the others as well that have been working so hard.”

Sounds quite positive to be fair let’s see what happens.

Yeah those types of transfers, foreign lower league 'gems' a la Kante, Mahrez, Jobello etc would be pretty much impossible.

The proposal from the FA only applies to the premier league
