He's not much think that's why he is linked with us. On a reasonable wage he would be a decent loan but I am more concerned by the lack of consistent infilance our ACMs are having on games and he will likely not be able to address that.

How good do you think Hamer is exactly? He’s had about 10 decent games in the Championship. Drinkwater is on a different planet to him and most midfielders in the Championship if he’s fit

Obviously taking someone with the track record of Drinkwater is a big risk, is it a Stephen Hunt or Dennis Wise you get? What is not in dispute is that a focused motivated Drinkwater of the Leicester vintage is far better than anything we have.
I suspect he is not the player nor man he once was.

So people who don't agree with you are detached from reality. He has hardly played first team football for about three years. His recent record suggests to me that he has little to offer. We have experience of bringing in players with Premier league experience in the past who turned out to be useless for us.
I respect, however, that you feel he is still the player who won the Premier league with Leicester. You might be right but I don't agree.

Maybe the detached from reality was a little harsh but when I maintain that there are a fair few who majorly overestimate the ability of our players and how much they'd command in transfer fees.
I didn't say he was the same player he was when he won the league but if he was fully fit he would be one of the leading players for any team in the bottom half, and dare I say it, the whole league.

You are forgetting the ex premier league players we signed of a similar vintage who turned out shit. Tim Sherwood. De zeeuw yakubu hunt etc. wise was an exception. We have no idea if drinkwater would be at that level but I suspect more of a Tim Sherwood

The notion that he’s not good enough to rise to the challenge of getting in our starting 11 is mind boggling.

Delusion comes in many forms. Drinkwater was a very good player, far above our station and was highly thought of by many including the England coach and Ranieri. The 2016 version was at the top of his cycle, today he is seen as not worth the risk by Burnley, Villa and his own club Chelsea. To say he couldn’t get in to our team and improve it is plainly wrong, however I suspect the lustre has come off his play, his reputation and his motivation.
I believe it is delusional to believe the 2021 version is worth the risk, actually I think it is folly of the highest order and would not be in the interests of Coventry City unless it was a motivated, energised player you were getting. Evidence suggests otherwise.
