Transfer Rumour Matty James (11 Viewers)

They certainly don't seem happy

"He was our best player."

also "Yes at the moment we are getting the results but the Wimbledon tactics aren't great to watch." made me laugh, surely the pressing world champions play better than that.

I think this is a great signing.

Regardless of any opinion, Sheaf, Hamer, Shipley, O’Hare (our midfield for the last game) are all YOUNG players. McCallum & Dabo out wide are far from ancient. Godden is out and Mad Max has spent most of his career in semi-pro so hasn’t the same level of experience as the equally aged Matty James.

Kelly adds some guile and experience as did Doyle before him. McFadz is a steady old pro but imagine him off the pitch, where’s the leadership? Hamer? Possible in the future but “steady / calm” aren’t words associated with Gus.

Through the absence of the skipper, James will be a steady influence on those players and bring some calm to proceedings.

That’s what I’m wondering. Has he decided to leave Sheaf, not sure I want to go into next season with two perennial crocks in n their late 20s at DM no matter how good they are.

He doesn't necessarily have the option to just 'leave Sheaf' does he? “If certain criteria are met it’s an obligation to buy,” Robins revealed.

I suppose it's dependant on what the criteria are. I can only speculate but I presume the obvious ones would be appearances based, and on the basis that we remain in the Championship.

And his replacement that we signed at the start of the season has been improving every game.

Meanwhile we’ve got less strike power than workers post 1990.

Won't be the only signing. Think there will be an attacking player (either AM or Striker). My only worry is we've now got 5 loan players in which I assume is still the maximum allowed in the squad. Having so many loans also leaves you needing to rebuild the team every year (although Sheaf is essentially ours anyway).

I don’t joke when I say, if you keep him fit, he’ll be the best player at your club. Was instrumental in our promotion year, and when he’s been fit in the prem he’s done a good job

It's nice to know that even though they're a top premier league side and have even won the league that we live rent free in their heads.
I suppose we agree on something

I mean this with no disrespect to our Barnsley resident but my god replies like this crack me up, coventry city are a bigger club than Barnsley, by some margin historically, our current stadium situation doesn't alter that one bit

From their forum

God. How depressing. Still we have to be realistic. Can't really compete with Coventry, Wycombe, Bolton, Frickly, Worsborough Bridge MW...............

I mean that's his opinion, it's completely wrong mind you, they've spent 1 season in their history in the top flight... I don't even mind Barnsley as a club, good old fashioned family club, but let's not pretend they belong in the same category as us historically

They have their stadium and that's fair enough, but Coventry are still a bigger pull

Correct, but if I was one of their fans I'd also be aiming to be ahead of a homeless club with famously tight owners. So from their point of view, I get the meltdown.
From my point of view, of course we're a bigger club than Barnsley and should be able to take their better players if we so wish.

Much as I would like to think we're now a massive club that the likes of Barnsley can't compete with wonder if there's an element of him wanting to be closer to home given the current situation.

Bolton are also twice the size of barnsley too historically, that's another thing that's amusing

Agree with all that tbh, once this stadium shite is sorted then clubs can stop using it as ammunition to try belittle us

We're a solid top half of the Championship club with outside chance of play offs once that's all sorted. Once in that position, no reason you can't fluke a promotion. Look at some of the crappy clubs that have littered the prem recently.

They are well run and also a victim of trying to live within their means... Clubs around them abusing finances left and right... Just hate the cheap shots... Proper gets my sky blue heart fucking pumping
