Q: How many players do we need to have a cometetive squad for the coming season? (1 Viewer)

So far this summer 6 players have left and 3 have arrived, leaving us 3 players down on the 'threadbare' squad that finished last season. At the moment we have just enough players to field a team and a bench. Any injuries or suspensions and we are back into the kids again!
While I am surprised and pleased with the quality of the incoming players, numbers is still a major concern. So... How many more do we need?
For me, assuming we don't lose any more, we need at least another 5, preferably 8 to have a competetive squad for the coming season. What do we all think?

The numbers worry me and you are right, injuries would put us back with kids. Realistically we are not going to keep Keogh but from a strength point of you we need to. He has a contract to fulfill, CCFC can enforce it but pound signs will talk. We will not get the same quality replacement and we need to be punching above our weight all season.
People on here will try and bamboozle and impress their so called knowledge of how the figures stack up but they know crap all about the accurate picture. We are football fans not company directors or accountants and should be shoutinv for what we see is obvious - a strong and numerous squad which means keeping our talent. You have to have investment for improvement. Re-shuffling doesn't work.
Perhaps the accountants can bugger off to another site and leave this as a CCFC football fan site.
Somehow our owners are always forgetting the basics.

Our youngsters are going to be heavily involved this season regardless, of course we need some more players, 5 maybe? But we dont have the luxury off finance, so we are going to have to use what we have and be thankful we have such talented youth.

I don't mind if the youngsters involved are Clarke, Christie, Hussey, Thomas and Fleck.

My issue is if they are now counted as 'seasoned pros' by ambition-less SISU. To answer the question I would say we need 6 or 7 players - if none leave (which Keogh will).

Five is about right. This would give us 2 players per position which actually is what sisu under The Football Man promised all along. I would like deegan and O'donovan out and replaced as well.
