so David Bell twitters, in my opinion a total waste of space and the decision to give this lazy twonk an extended contract has forced our hand to sell Bigi, lose Norwood and probably Keogh.
The wages of Bell, and that other waste of space Baker would have saved all the above ,if we had let there contracts expire. Bell could even tweet while he plays, as he does so little. One of the worst decisions in the last decade giving contracts to these two.

The Rev

bigi left to play for a premiership team and no amount of 'saved wages' would have stopped this

don't be so melodramatic due to the fact that you dont like bell and baker.... before his injury last year baker was actually playing well

Well, lets see how he gets on, shall we? He has shown he can do it and i believe he can . So and others don't agree. There you go.

That's great then. That makes his 5 goals in 87 appearances look so, so much better.

The reason bell is targeted is because of the long interact which was stupid but is not his fault. I've never seen him bring less than 100% to a game even if he sometimes lacks fitness or ability. I prefer him to mcsheffrey and baker.

As I say, if he is as good as all the managers have said he is, he should really shine in League One.

I would think we all hope for that don't we?

He had a cracking game on Nimleys debut, set up a couple of goals.

If we didn't have SISU,Thorn or Bell who would people on here hate,i wonder?

Why is Bell still here if he is so good, below is a team that he first played in

Westwood - premiership
Wright too old left us and went into football oblivion
Fox Premiership
Dann was premiership
Turner leading championship club
Henderson premiership
Gunnarsson leading championship club
Doyle League 1 (found his level)
Bell ??????
(Eastwood 80), more excuses than a naughty schoolboy
Morrison too old
Best was premiership
(Simpson 72) not sure

He has failed to deliver(that includes crosses) but he does something magical a couple of times a season and he is compared to Becks. Bell is still here cos no clubs come looking for him as they see what most on here have endured effortless garbage. and this 100% nonsense against Sheff Wed in front of the JSB he turned away from a challenge cos couldn't be bothered and was only the city fans verbal abuse that encouraged him to go back and tackle.

Hate where the club is, hate how we have played over the last 3 seasons, there are many factors but Bell Eastwood Clingan Baker have had a lot to do with it, don't feel the need for this Bell respect he might come good. Even if he is player of the year this season, he won't be considered a good player by me 3 1/2 seasons of dross take a long time to be erased.

Why do you always equate any criticism with 'hating'....it really is a very inappropriate word to use in such cricumstances.

You have diverted the debate into an area no-one else was taking taking it with such inflammatory language.

Please have a modicum of reason to your replies, Torchy....you are - as you repeatedly tell us - a 47 year old father blah, blah...so, please show the same maturity in promoting the debate rather than pushing post-ers/CCFC fans towards polarised views with words such as 'hate'.

I don't approve of Bell's performance or AT's results, but that doesn't mean I 'hate' them....

I hate child molesters, but by using words like 'hate' you really are playing a very dangerous - and unnecessary - 'game'....

Hate implies there's some kind of deep rooted personal vendetta against the man. That simply isn't the case.

so lets gets this clear, you think keeping Bell and Baker on long term contracts, was a good thing, and that to keep these two you would have sacrificed Bigi, and Norwood.
We don't,(not even you), would know what Bigi would have done if we had upped his wage to the same Bells on, and can you please tell us the game you saw where Baker played well !! If you see a future with Bell and Baker in the team, i'd say well done and good luck with that.

That was my point, BSB.

Torchy is a regular post-er and should know better, it's not called for...and is something that regularly happens to polarise an argument.

I now await the 'you are picking on me', 'he's LBB in disguise' (even though Rich the moderator has confirmed this is not true) blah blah.....which again shows a lack of maturity/understanding for the level of debate the original post-er intended.

No offence intended, but a point I felt needed making.

No need to knitt-pick about words used or not.

Everyone wants people to see players work as hard for their club as they would given a pair of boots and in my case, a bit of ability with a round ball. But lets be honest; no one really did the club justice last season. Bell just becomes a target because he does have the ability, and collects a big wage, for having the same western all of the players had last season.

thorns quotes last sason about him rewarding bell with a new contract was "players like david bell are the future of this club" that was the main reason i went off thorn, bell is simply awful

Yes, but is calling those questioning Bell as 'hating' him????

Some words need to be 'knitt-picked' (sic).....sorry, in a public forum you can't get away from that.....is criticising Bell a 'hate crime'....no it isn't, so the word is uncalled for, and a cheap form of belittling the arguments of those who agree that Bell has been utterly disappointing and a total waste of money since he came to CCFC.

So are you stating that those with the above view (I wager 90% of CCFC fans???) 'hate' David Bell????

Just like for example, the Jews 'hated' the Nazis....or the families of the victims of 911 'hate' those that committed those atrocities?

Come on, man, for a mature nearly 50-year-old parent, that is poor and un-called for.

Agreed, AT did say that....therefore, he did play some part in ensuring that Bell is still here...and for another 4 years, taking up almost £1.5m in wages.

Doesn't mean I 'hate' AT though......

I'd usually agree, but 'hate' carries very different connotations to 'criticise'.

Just because a player lacks pace does not mean they lack passion. People seem to think you need to charge around in some demented state. See how many assists Bell had when he was playing regularly. Plenty of good quality passes into the box.

I wonder if all these people who hate Bell think Deegan can do a good job in CM cos to me he is not an English professional footballer. Can't pass - no tactical knowledge and reckless in the tackle!, Same with McPake. Very poor positionally and commits himself in the tackle and either gets a injured or booked /sent off. At least he has gone. I would rather have Doyle than Deegan and that is really not saying a lot!

One of the worst things to happen to Thorn was Bell's good performance against Watford just after Thorn was made interim manager. I think Thorn believed he could get the best out of him. Sadly it just didn't work.

Bell creates little, can't last 90 minutes and his tackling style is reminiscent of a randy cocker spaniel dry humping a disinterested Doberman. Utterly futile.

But hey, at least he's good on Twitter. He's finally found his niche. He'll get plenty of time to tweet from the bench or the physio table because he won't be anywhere near the starting XI.

Norwood cost a few hundred grand and bigi generated a few hundred grand so don't think bell and baker being retained affected the situation of those two players at all. I'd also like to think bell and baker (if fit) should be very good in this league but let's wait and see.

Once again !!! i don't hate anyone, all i think is Bell is a useless waste of space. If he does the odd bit of majic once or twice a season like he normally does, then that will be enough for one or two on here who think otherwise. I personally would play Alan Carr rather than David Bell, but thats my opinion.

The Rev

David Bell just does not fit the criteria of a successful midfielder. I judge midfielders on three vital skills: providing assists, scoring and ball winning. Last year I can only remember the assist for one of McSheff's goals. He failed to score a single goal and his tackling was none existent. For those who believe that he will be a success in Division 1, I hope that you are correct and that I am wrong but to my mind Bell goes mssing in games to avoid physical confrontation. Well, we all know just how physical this league is going to be so I don't see how Bell is suddenly going to suddenly spring into match winning form. I am a Coventry City supporter, so I repeat that I hope that I am wrong and that he has a storming season, but I am not holding my breath!

Bell is a good technical player, but because he doesn't charge around like a headless chicken chasing lost causes it translates into he's shit according to some. They wouldn't appreciate a proper footballer if George Best was reincarnated and playing for City.

I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?h0sa21
are you on the wind up mate? David Bell and George Best in the same sentence? Yes he may have a decent touch and can produce the odd decent cross or pass but by and large he has been a complete passenger with zero deisre in his 3 seasons here

It isn't the job of a winger to go and put in last ditch tackles and break up the play, so I don't hold that against him. A winger should, however, have real pace, good dribbling and crossing skills, and have the technical ability that comes with that. In my mind, he's very similar to old Michael McIndoe in that he patently lacks pace but, technically, has a bit to him. Unfortunately, a winger with no pace is about as useful as a centre back who can't tackle. Work rate isn't his problem, it's fitness.

the problem is i can only remember two assists from the season just ,there were probably others ,The Mcsheff one ,and one he slid on the ground from the wing where juke got into score where by rights he should'nt ,was it the second one against Blackpool??If he could do it on a consistent basis he'd be dynamite ,but he does'nt ,Convinced its a confidence thing

Not all wingers need pace - beckham rarely went past defenders but his delivery was quality 9 times out of 10. The other thing that goes against bell, is the lack of runners in the box when he crosses and this has been a problem under the last 3-4 managers. Your lucky if the two strikers are in the box let alone midfield runners, which means you've got to pull off the perfect cross.

The problem with him with his crossing and lack of pace is that 8-9 times out of ten his cross is blocked or charged down, or the cross doesn't get past the first man.

Having pace can give you the space to have time to put your cross in. As Bell is so slow when he does beat a man, the defender can very quickly get back into a position where he can still prevent the cross.

I don't care how good anyone says he can be he has pretty much completely underperformed for 3 and half years.
