Striker? (7 Viewers)

I think we will look to get in a striker ASAP , that has to be the priority ,if on loan then makes 6 which leaves Robins with a decision who to leave out and which club to upset
We can’t make sheaf permanent yet because we need to stay up to be obliged to buy him and he plays a certain amount of games

Danny Thomas believes You can’t criticise players unless you’ve crossed “the white line” - I’ve never worked in a chip shop but when I ended up with E. coli after eating at the Parsons Nose in the 80’s I think I could say the cook failed to live up to expectations

It's alright blaming the cook at The Parsons Nose - but you had been licking the bosses arse all week.

I think that’s what Danny does with a certain rather mediocre forward

Maybe just me.

Just not sure what the point is in putting the boot into Baka at every opportunity i.e. this thread seems to have descended into "I don't think much of that player but at least he's better than Baka."

It further damages the confidence of one of our players who is not playing with any confidence right now - and is absolutely needless when Robins has clearly stated that he is trying to add to our firepower.

The negativity on this board is amazing particularly at a time that we're making progress in this division.
Same regarding a lot of Shipley comments.
Bad news about QPR. Could really do with them losing.
Not really. I fancy Luton to drift down the league the more the merrier.

There’s a lot of “if Max gets injured we’re left with just Baka” like it’s currently an okay situation, that could turn very bad. Not gonna lie, it’s hardly rosy at the moment. I know it’s seen as blasphemous on here but the thought of having to start 4 or 5 games with Biamou as our striker in the championship is a frightening one. Not saying Baka is any better, he’s not. I just hope we don’t rue a big opportunity on Saturday to put a ten point cushion between ourselves and the bottom 3 by not addressing a very concerning lack of goals and ability up front.

I'm pulling your leg mate, although comparing Austin to either of those is hilarious/ridiculous. Pretty sure O'Donovan never scored a competitive goal for us.

Always the way ain’t it - make a sweeping statement only for a player to bag straight away!
Not the first time this week that’s happened... I said to my brother - Shankland is looking bang average at SPL level - scored like 3, that’s similar to championship level - and he scored from 50 yards tonight

ROD scored passed Bury in the league cup... I went to it, took hours to get there because those Manchester riots were on. Performance was inept, place was shit we got beat 3-1... great Andy thorn performance that

Austin will probably go on a streak now just to rub it in, although of course, I hope not.
Still agree Shankland isn't looking too hot (I'll definitely take a look at that goal though.) Maybe they should have cashed out in the summer.

Troy Parrott has been recalled from Milwall and they look to loan him out again, I would HAPPILY welcome him at Coventry, he shouldn’t be judged on his record so far this season in the championship because he was injured at the start of the season and just only starting getting going, this guy can score goals and is highly regarded by Spurs, would be a much better option for us than Gnanduillet and much cheaper too. When Milwall first signed him I was thinking this would be one of the signings of the season but didn’t work out, but neither did Bright Enobkhare when he went up to Scotland first before joining us. Out of all the limited options I see on the table, this in my opinion would be our best bet.

Here is some information on his stats for U19’s and U’23s for Spurs

Maybe they can send us Clarke too while they are at it

Didn’t realise he had been recalled, don’t think any striker would score goals in that milwall team judging by their performance against us. Could be a good option on loan til the end of the year but that would mean leaving a loanee out of the match day squad each week.

Unless we turn one into a permanent, for example we have an obligation to sign Sheaf anyways so if you made that permanent you open one up, perhaps look to buy Ostigard early before his contract runs out for a cheeky £250k?

Personally I think they should change the rule of only 5 loanees now that you have 9 on the bench and you are allowed 5 subs, seems harsh

Isn’t Parrott only 18 the same age as Will Bapaga who is deemed not ready? Although U18/U23 stats are impressive I’d rather give our own a try first than waste another loan on an unproven talent.

Don’t mind him going in a scoring steak asking as they’re losing games 2-1 😂

talking of Shankland, McNulty is struggling in the same team - he did alright at Hibs. Maybe they’re not creating much

Parrott is a striker, Tottenham see him as ‘the next Harry Kane’ whereas Bapaga is more of a winger/attacking mid. We need a striker which Bapaga isn’t.

Currently they are playing Parrott out of position on LW and he’s an out and out striker.

I read somewhere yesterday that he was returning and they were going to send him out again. Here is one story I found but I’m trying to find one within the last day or so...

He scored goals like that for Ayr lower down the leagues as well. He’d have been ideal as a McNulty replacement but not what we need at this moment in time.
Yep this seems accurate, although I'd caveat that with I'd still comfortably rather have him that Max & Baka.

I think Nisbet of Hibs would be the one to keep an eye on up there now. Both younger and scoring more regularly than Shankland.

We could’ve signed him for the money we paid for Hiwulla and Baka. We wanted a McNulty replacement, he was it.

Most people would. However, the fact Dundee United wanted £3m for him last year is nothing short of laughable as he isn't worth anywhere near that.
Of course, any Scottish team outside the old firm would be lucky to get that for any of their players, nevermind one coming out of the Scottish Championship.

I'm not sure you can criticise what we've done post McNulty too much. Chaplin, although he maybe didn't fire for us consistently enough, was sold for a profit and has now played 18 months of Championship football. Godden then helped fire us to promotion. The club looked at Shankland and decided he wasn't for us.

Sure, and they took the time to scout him. I just think he’d have done better on the pitch than Chaplin-that’s why I’m a schmuck on a forum and they’re paid to recruit players.
