Robins must think we're safe already and is looking at next season, the addition on the Scottish lad and seeing how James holds up with the possibility of a contract on the table.

If we go down then spending a window filling positions we don't urgently need won't look good on him.

Of course he doesn't think we're safe.

Seems Giles is going to Rotherham as their usual LWB is injured so Wolves obviously want him to get more minutes.

He’d have completely lost it if he thinks we’re safe already.
I can't see any other reason for it, we've bought in 1 payer for the future, 1 injury prone guy on a prove it deal where we didn't desperately need anybody and a striker that hasn't performed yet in this league. This happening during a run where we're shipping goals by playing defenders out of form and position and forcing injured layers to go through the pain up front.

We obviously have money to spend and are looking at the long term strategy still, which is admirable, but if there was ever a window to make a couple of short term fixes I think this would be the one with god knows how much money on the line.

Robins was always gonna keep some budget back fo jan regardless of people saying we wouldn’t @KenilworthSkyBlue was adamant we won’t be signing anyone for Money

What makes you so sure Robins kept money back for January when his comments throughout the window pretty much reiterate the opposite of this?

If you take into account the funds that have been freed up as a result of player departures, it's not all that surprising that Robins may have been able to adjust the playing budget accordingly in order to pay a modest upfront fee/initial installment for Reid.

Also, as an added bonus we're set to host two Sky matches next month which should inject over £200k into the club. I'm sure this helped too.

Might be good news for you guys, we've allegedly had a bid for sicknote Liam Walsh from a 'Championship club that we've yet to respond to'.
Considering he's been 'injured' since he came back tuppence ha'penny would probably do.
We're guessing it's your good selves BTW.
Where have you seen that pal? You'll have half the forum frothing at the gash with that rhetoric.

Considering we haven't seen him since he came back, we wouldn't be missing anything and he clearly doesn't want to be here.

Reported as all but done on their side, this could prove to be a very good signing especially with how brexit is effecting transfers from abroad. Scottish and english players price will go through the roof.

I doubt we’ve got any money to spend and no one going out to raise funds

Possibly not us, unless we’re looking towards the summer and replacing Hamer (who we bought to replace Walsh) with Walsh. My head hurts.

We’ve also just got James (with a view to a permanent deal) so midfield isn’t top priority at this moment in time wouldn’t have thought. But who knows?

To be fair if he already arrives injured he’s a step ahead of our new striker

I thought Walsh was out of contract at the end of the season and given he hasn’t played yet, why would we pay out for a player who’s on a free in July.
Does anyone know how far away he is from being fit to play?

Golf? Very fit, football? No idea.
I would imagine, given, as you say, his contract situation, we're not talking a kings' ransom here.

Or unless we already know that Walsh is running his contract down with a view to leaving in the summer, so we thought we’d try a cheeky ‘take it or he leaves on a free anyway’ type of deal.

Was an interesting article in the Athletic about transfers and how everyone breaks the tapping up rule and nobody ever complains because they all do it. Basically, why go through the proper channels when it can result in —> approach club —> agree fee —> approach player —> get told nah —> month wasted. The reality is usually agent gives buying club the nod (yes he wants to sign, will accept £x) and then the buying club will approach the selling club. It’s quite possible we ‘know’ he wants to leave.

It would then allow Hamer to go in the summer should an offer come in for £15m ;)
