Pask and Baka (10 Viewers)

I thought both played well last night, Pask in particular.

Shows the importance of having a squad, even if you think the fringe players aren't quite up to standard.

Dabo's injury looked a bad one so I expect we'll see a fair bit of Pask in the coming months.

edited to say: Allen too, he looked very lively when he came on.

Both players with all the right attributes and both young enough to work on their game.

Looks like Pask might be our RB for a bit so hope he does well.

Baka has flattered to deceive before, but if he can keep that performance up he’s a solid reserve striker. I have my doubts as to whether he can though, has he ever put together a run of form?

Baka looked more motivated when he came on, but got easily discouraged by being brushed against by defenders. He’s got the physique to bully players even at this level

Not really seeing this great performance for Baka. He ran around in the 10 mins he was on. Chased the ball into a corner and they got a goal kick, took the ball near to the touch line and put it out of play for their throw in, chased one ball down towards the keeper who cleared it. Not really great is it, he did run more than normal I suppose.
Pask had a very good game when he came on , glad he did nt go out on loan, we need him now.

In my eyes he's a decent 10 to 15 minute cameo player, who can come on when legs are tired and run. He's got plenty of pace, so can cause problems. Don't think this ever really shows when he plays a full 90. Trust him more when we are defending a lead than chasing a game though.

First two minutes he’s on the pitch, just watched:

Immediately closes down and wins a throw in in their half
Takes a high ball down and lays it off for the midfield (something neither of the other strikers did that much)
Takes up good positions in the box and moves their CBs Around
Should’ve won a free kick in the corner for being shoved

Fair enough criticise players when they’re poor but this is just ludicrous.

It'll be interesting to see how Pask fares as he's another one that's flattered to deceive I think. Whilst last night's performance was good, I still believe there's a significant question mark over whether he can sufficiently deputise for Dabo in the RB slot (assuming Robins sticks with the same formation used last night). Especially against better opposition. As whilst it's a cliche I feel that this is where we're going to see him get terribly exposed.

Probably right and wish dacosta was fit.

I actually want pask out on loan as CB to come back ready for next season as he's fooking quick, tall and looks handy. However with rose not ready, Thompson cutting his own toe off and hyam going through a 6/10 spell, pask is needed as it leaves drysdale as cover who I'm sure will go out on loan

Dacosta is no more proven

Think Robins said after the game that Dacosta had a cut (didn't say where) so will be looking to see how he is before Saturday's game.

Think Pask did well when he came on, should carry on with him at RB for now.

You could hear all the coaching staff going mental loving Baka closing down their keeper and forcing him to put it out of play.
Think everyone in the club is desperate for him to do well.

My worry is he appears fired up in one game, and then he'll be completely anonymous the next

He seemed much more confident last night. Forced a kicking error from Westwood as well as slowing the game down which was needed. He’s been terrible this season but was a solid 7 last night

I am not knocking Baka but I just didn't see this great performance last night. He wasn't on for long so that is no criticism. A few times the ball bounced off him and he controlled it well once and did put pressure on their back line. But that did not seem a great improvement to me.

If we had lost I think people would just have said he was no threat again. He was ok over a short period but nothing more.

He played a different role in this game - to bring in to score us goals and win us the game I think he's way below this level. But like last night to bring someone on to hassle and chase, break up their play and be a pain in the ass, I think he can manage that.

Problem is, more often than not we have to bring him on needing goals, and that's where we leave disappointed.

I honestly think it’s as simple as when he’s got the bit between his teeth he’s agressive and uses his attributes he’s a handful, but 49/50 games he doesn’t have the bit between his teeth.

I was pleased about Pask last night. He never put a foot wrong. However, I would like to point out that was against a poor side, we need to see him against a bit of quality. But a solid performance last night.
As for Baka, I wanna see some nastiness about his game. He is a solid lad and should be bullying centre backs with strikers and midfielders having chances from his flick ons and hold up play. He could be a cracking number 10, the lad either needs a run of games or to be moved on IMO.

Always liked Pask and I’m pleased to see did well last night. As someone else said, he has all the attributes to be an asset, but he needs a run of competitive games to pull them together, and to find both match fitness and sharpness. It’ll all help with confidence too.

However, I fear the platitudes won’t last long, he isn’t a RB and that’s even more noticeable when the player he’s replacing is one of our best and a very good attacking outlet. Something unfair to expect an out of position CB to be.

Always thought Baka has more to offer too, he’s never really hit a run of form or confidence and now were in the Championship I don’t think that chance will come.

But this is just stuff any player should be doing as standard, yet when Baka does it for 10 minutes, your lauding it as a great performance! Is that how low the bar is with him?

I mean he hasn’t managed it before and neither did Max in considerably more time.

Also it was literally two minutes of play.

Just seems some are so desperate to slate Baka almost to show off how much they hate him. Seems a bit sad.

That's my view you just don't know when the aggressive baka is going to show up.

Very pleased for them both - Pask I think has earned this shirt to start at RB on Saturday (though MR may move Osti to the right to bring Fadz back in .....hope not).

Baka I think now MR has said he is not going will have the bit between his teeth to show he is worthy of a contract ....in all likelihood elsewhere but has to be motivation to pur himself in the shop window .....he is better than he has shown and not had many chances but own worst enemy by blowing chances he has had.

Now for me it really does depend how injured Max is - A few saying they can tell he is injured? In all honesty if playing two up top would start Baka & Gyores with Max on bench if needed? Another option if we go one up front is to try to bring Allen into xi but personally prefer the two and would like to see Baka and Gyo given a go from the start.

Baka and Victor could work if max isn't fit or is carrying a knee injury as long as baka wants to carry on with level of last night's performance.

The reality is that neither Max or Baka are both probably not good enough for this level. Max has had better and more opportunities than Baka but to date has done better with them too.

If Max is playiong thorugh injury and Baka fully fit I would play Baka over Max Saturday if we play two up front......which I hope we do.
If not it is probably Gyo up top on his own and Allen to come in to buzz around in midfield.

On yesterday’s showing I wouldn’t play Max and Györkeres in the same team, too similar IMO.

I wouldn’t play James and Sheaf together for the same reasons, which weirdly leaves a Liam Walsh shaped hole in a 433:

Hamer James Walsh
O’Hare Györkeres Allen

(On current form)

Get it done Robins.
