I see people moaning a lot about not having enough strength in depth, imo if we get jennings our midfield is complete, we've got enough players for cover in the wide positions like bell, baker and fleck and elliot if needs be on the right, Sheff, Roberts, Fleck and again Elliot can do a shift on the left as he said in his interview, in the centre we would have, Deegan, jennings, Thomas and Kilbane , now Deegan isn't technically gifted and can't be classed as a playmaker but Thomas i think will play a big part next season he looked really good against southampton away even though we lost, he came for the ball picked it up and ran with it looking to play it out wide and up to cody and even tried to get up and support him, so our midfield is pretty much there.
We need a new striker for definate but i don't think thorn want's a big target man, i don't care if other teams in the league have one, obviously thorn is looking to play a different way completely, keep it on the ground and use fleck and cody's pace. Bring in someone like Stuart Beavon or someone who is quick and has technical abillity , who can get into the scoring oppurtunities we need that type of player more than anything.
We need to strengthen our Back Four even if we keep Keogh, bring in a young Centre Back, like James Wilson etc, woody and cameron would without do a good job for us but both very injury prone, we need 4 first team playable centre backs at minimum who can play week in week out and for us not to be worried about as he might be too young or in experienced, if we can bring in players in Centre Back and Striker, we have a very strong team for league 1.
They have all played Championship level and have gained experienced it and i think most of the kids like thomas and willis are more than capable of doing good in league imo

I agree we have strength in depth now although I would like 4 central midfielders, kilbane can play there I guess but seems more adept to left side of the pitch

I did one of these a while ago but to update:IF WE GET JENNINGS

Goalkeepers:

Murphy
Dunn

Left back:

Hussey
Kilbane

Right Back:

Clarke
Christie

Centre backs:

Keogh
Wood
Cameron
Willis

Centre midfielders:

Deegan
Thomas
Jennings

Wide midfielders/wingers/attacking mid central

Fleck
Mcsheffrey
Baker
Bell

Strikers:

MacDonald
Elliott
Rod
Jeffers

21 man squad, with kilbane working double duty we have a replacement for every position...so far soo good

I still think we are dangerously short at centre back.
Keogh might be off.
Wood is injury prone.
Cameron is injury prone and likes a mistake.
Willis might be off.
Christie can play there though.

We need more cover there.

Midfield seems ok to me, but that is based on Jennings, who we haven't signed yet.
One more up front needed too.

you cant say we havnmt signed jennings yet but then point to keough and willis being off mate

but i understand your point, if any CB go we need replacements but the current 4 as they stand are good enough for league one imo

I can do that, it's the same thing effectively. You are stating they will/might be at the club and using that as your squad.
I'm stating they might not be at the club.
And based on that, I drew my conclusion that we need more cover. (if the worst happens)
Ideal world all three are here.

A lot of this is based on players playing better at a 'lower' level or re-capturing form from a number of seasons ago.

We really don't know. There's a lot of if's.

If fleck is the player we think he will be
If baker can score lots like he did at southport
If bell, baker, and sheff can consistently influence games
If Cameron can recapture the form he showed when he first came in the side
If ROD can capture the form from his single decent spell in England
If Elliot can score more goals than his career average suggests
If wood, hussey, Cameron and deegan can fit.
If Cody can be top scorer.
If Keogh stays :)
I could go on.

This isn't being negative this is being realistic. There's still
Not enough depth to this squad, which still lacks strength and pace.

Keogh MIGHT BE off - Seriously? You genuinely believe there is as much chance as 1% that he will stay?

if you are realistic you must also say

what if keogh stays

Doesn't really work.

If you jump off a 10th floor balcony, it's realistic to say you'll die.
You might be ok, but the likelihood is you'll die.

I'm not jumping.
You have fun on the way down ;)

Basically, being realistic isn't seeing both sides and being 50/50 with it.
Realistic is what is most likely to happen, and due to the reports and clubs being interested, and our recent history, it's realistic to say that Keogh is going.

:thinking about:It's as likely he'll sign as Keogh will leave. Assuming he does well on his trial.
I'm actually going to the Hinckley game too, so I'll report back.

As has been said, Wood is injury prone and as has also already been said, looks like we have a cat in hell's chance of keeping Keogh.

Some people are also forgetting that Jordan Willis is only 17 years old and only made first team 3 appearances.

Surely we are not going to have yet another kid playing far too many games well before he is truly ready and have him burn out but continue to pick him because he's all we've got ........ are we?

not saying its perfect but 4 centrebacks -1 class - 2- competent or better 1 - youngster isnt the end of the world, hed be the last resort

yes if any of first 3 are sold we need replacements no doubt.

Stockport. He was more of a tricky wideman than prolific goalscoring midfielder when at Southport.

Wood - 252 games since 2003-04 season...

Thats 32 games a season, and that doesnt take into account if he is on the bench as he simply wasnt in the team.

He's not injury prone

All right statto. He's been injured a fair bit for us and I wouldn't pin my hopes on him playing the majority of games next season.

This is a misconception. He was injured last season. Prior to that he has been virtually injury free.

I understand that. Ok he isn't injury prone looking at his entire career, and maybe won't get injured ever again.
I still wouldn't rely on him though, based on last season.
