Its like Bernard's watch... he can stop it and stop all time apart from himself. He occasionally uses it and moves the opposition keeper off his line, restarts time and scores a 35 yard header past a rather bemused keeper.

It’s a weird superstition. If we were winning every week then great. Once we lost and he played shite surely the superstition is pointless

Not so much a superstition as very expensive at £15k and doesn't want to leave it in the dressing room. He might be on decent money now but its still 3 weeks money and he comes from humble beginnings. Equally not suggesting we have dishonesty in the group but to some of the lads on significantly less it would be even more attractive so he asks Marshy to look after it for him.

If that is true it’s pathetic that he doesn’t trust his teammates. Also, why not just leave it at home on match day🤦🏻‍♂️

Why put the temptation there. You might trust them implicitly but don't know everyone's circumstances at home and one time would cast a cloud over the entire squad.lots of people like a nice watch and ask yourself regardless of what you thought if your team mates would you leave something that valuable lying around with a bunch of guys you've barely known 5 minutes when you have an alternative option. Don't forget this ritual started months back and he only signed in the summer. It needn't even be a player but certainly wouldn't be the first time a dressing room was robbed.

Why when there's no need to? Chris is happy to look after it during the game and the rest of the time he likes to wear it.

I thought this was going to be a thread on how it's been stolen after Sky bizarrely took it upon themselves to show it to the world 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Clearly they'd heard a story about the watch but did they really need to find it in a stand (was going to say crowd but we know there's not one of them!), and at a point when the kit guy's arm was on his knee? Just looked like a a shit bit of cameraman-ship until the context was given, and even then I was interested on what was happening on the field than off it

Wasn't there a rumour years ago that a player we had on loan had 'light fingers'?

Plus Walsh has left so the Scouse removal must give him some comfort about leaving it in the dressing

Bit like me with my two tone socks. Wore one black and one white for weeks when we were unbeaten this season, then the inevitable happened :(

I'd like to point out by "for weeks" I mean on match days 😅

My lucky underwear finally rotted last season

A £15k watch to a professional footballer is like a £100 watch to us mere mortals, they live in a very different world.

If we were Premiership I'd agree

Gus probably earns say £7.5k/week give or take. Two weeks wages. Would be more like the average worker with a watch worth about £1k. Which TBF I know a few people who have done that and more.
