It's good to see some lamps on there in the shade. I think previously it hasn't had them and they had to be rented in at certain times?

I think it was also relaid over last summer, so not sure if it's seen any improvement since?
Guess it won't be noticed as much in rugby though as when we're back on it

Had a look at some pictures of recent Wasps games when CWR made the announcement last week. Doesn't look in great condition to be honest but then they aren't preparing it with football in mind at the moment.

With all the planned summer events now being off there should be a nice long break for them to sort the pitch out. You have to assume this has been part of the discussions between the two clubs.

Yep, I'd imagine/hope the pitch was one of the key points they had to agree on before signing anything

The company who will be responsible for pitch maintenance have been in position and contracted for a while, I have known that for a while

Realistically, what can actually be done about 30, 18st+ men rolling about on grass?

Is there actually something that can be done?

I don’t remember it being an issue for the first few years we were there so hopefully it’s not beyond the ability of a professional ground staff to have it decent for both side.

Bristol City and Bears both play at Ashton Gate and the pitch is pristine. I think Wasps neglected it previously as it didn’t matter to them and they had no reason to work on it to please us when we were at each other’s throats.

Play separate weekends so it has time to recover. Water it when it’s dry, make sure the drainage is good when it’s wet and get the lights on it.

As I said Bristol manage it but loads of others too.

Other teams share and don't have pitches in the state the Ricoh is. This isn't the first time we've heard about the pitch being relayed and experts brought in so what keeps going wrong? I suspect they just aren't spending enough money on it which, going off this article, may now change as we'll be sharing the cost.

It can't be beyond the two authorities involved to divide up weekends so we don't get weekends with two games on it, that would be a good start.

From the sounds of it, Wasps have stopped deciding they know what’s best with everything, which can only be a good sign. I remember them making a big song and dance about the pitch being relaid in their first summer here, was the best pitch around etc etc. Convinced at that point they didn’t follow the maintenance plan which will no doubt have been laid out for them, all in the name of cost-saving. Some stages that pitch was absolute muck.

Can’t be bothered to check, but I’m guessing Swansea/Ospreys and Bristol play on alternative weekends. Brentford this season too. Has to happen, really not difficult.

Done a bit of digging pardon the pun and that isn’t 100% accurate this company are consultants in sports grounds etc and have been advising on the pitch situation that’s what they do a new pitch will be laid in the summer but they will not be maintaining it afterwards, I’m assuming it will be suitable for footie and rugger as are the likes of Swansea Wigan etc.
