Only other ones i can think of in Bedworth that are remotely hilly...

Bayton Road, up to the crossroads at the Black Horse End
Smarts Road from the rugger club end up towards Cross Keys

Ran my fastest 5k yesterday at 21.45. Still plenty of room for improvement but having not been able to run at all because of the long effects of COVID until about September-ish time, it feels good. Got to work to get under 21 minutes now. I have a dream of one day running sub 20 but it will probably be beyond me.
Amazing time and great to hear you are getting over covid

Club challenge I need 7 good hills to run up as close together as possible. Anyone got any recommendations? I need to be able to get there this week so it has to be local to Beduth/Cov

I know of two that way that are really tough; Leathermill Lane/Grange Road and a country Lane (no name) from the canal through the side of Windmill Hill Nature Reserve to Mancetter Road.

Whenever I run those I incorporate them into a canal tow path run so they end up being a nice country route. I’ve attached screen shots which hopefully help you find them/give nearby landmarks you can use to find them.

I didn’t really want to drive anywhere to be honest. I haven’t driven anywhere for leisure this lockdown. It’s all been from my doorstep.

Been wearing the Pegasus round the house the last day or so and they just dont seem to be agreeing with my foot. Going to return them today. Annoying as that conman Mike Ashley charges expensive delivery and you have to pay for your own returns! Grrrr.

Going to go into a running shop when they open and get a shoe that properly fits my foot. I trust an expert much more than I trust myself when it comes to judging what is right for me.

First 10k since 2019 today, plenty of walking after 3miles, but got to the magic 6.2 mile mark eventually.. my slowest ever 10k 1 hour 7mins, and a long way from the 50min mark was at back then, but least got to distance without sacking it off mid run like kept doing. Think the key was not stopping watch, now got a time to try and beat, going to forget the old times for now and just keep trying to beat my season (2021) pb

Upped the milage over the weekend and got to 9.75 miles on my Sunday run, and felt as though I could have done more. I am going to try ~11 miles this weekend, and all being well I can then up it to a half the following week. Even with the increasingly distances, I still feel nowhere near as fit as pre-covid.

Nice weather for a run today, but not been able to get out, so having to settle for a family walk to the local parks with the kids once I have finished work.

Did 13 miles cross-country on sunday. Following the network of footpaths out from Ash Green, along the M6 towards Birmngham, then a big clockwise loop via Fillongley and Astley to bring me back home.

Today was 8 x 800mtrs. Actually i could only manage 6.... a quick look at my records and i was doing the reps in 2:40-2:42, compared to a fortnight ago in 2:44-2:46, so little wonder i found it tough this morning.

Another 10k today for me. Was wet and windy and legs were still tired from the last 2 but got it done...still with walks every mile but down another 1.5 minutes

You won't get a "one size fits all answer for that".... otherwise everyone would do the same amount of miles and have the same times...

I'm doing 60-70 per week, yet struggling to break 18mins. But CrawleySkyBlue possibly doing slightly less but nearer to 17mins.

But to a general pattern, the more you do, the faster you'll get. 50 miles per month is not a huge amount and you will hit a ceiling to what you can do on that, but all depends on other factors.... if you are particularly lucky with age/weight/talent/fitness, you might be able to get near to 20mins... But for an "average" person on 50 miles per month i'd say 25mins was achievable.

Yeah realise it’s not exactly a very good question based on loads of factors.

I’d been running about 5 years before lockdown doing about 25mile a month average , max 2 runs a week - parkrun and one other , with no other excercise. I’m late 30’s and had got down to 23:30 5k and 51:00 10k... and often thought I must be doing ok for low mileage by looking at the Strava stats for people finishing near me and seeing they run a lot more.
Most my runs have tended to be intervals either 1/4mile, 1/2mile or mile.

However been getting slower and slower during lockdown with no parkrun and struggling to push myself on intervals. So trying new approach of 2 10ks a week nice and slow... to up mileage to see if can get back running near 25 min 5k or below

That's the way to go about it.

Less speed. More miles.

I've mentioned it about a million times on here... and quite welcome anyone to tell me to "bugger off".... but until someone is running comfortably at least 4 times a week steadily, then adding in hard interval sessions is only a fast-lane to fatigue, injury and demotivation.

Was out yesterday but only done 4 miles.
Is it normal for your knees (or one of them) to not be painful on return-but feel like they have been used which carries on into the next day? Not sore or anything but am just a bit sceptical and concerned that there maybe something on the horizon?🤔

I imagine I have age on my side though Travs... otherwise no doubt, you’d be ahead of me?

I'm 39... Was decent at cross country in my teens, but then pretty much stopped competitive running to concentrate on Sunday football and heavy drinking.

I do wonder what more I could have achieved if I had stuck with it from a young age.... I've only been training "seriously" since 2015.

Ps well done on 17:20, that is superb.
I'm hoping to run 1500m on the track next month, and possibly a steeplechase too.
