Hardly a ringing endorsement for Cody...

...who didn't play at Inckleh and won't be going to Scotland...

i would say it says more about RoD and Jeffers

If Alex Ferguson wants to bring in another striker, im sure rooney wouldnt be too concerned.

Cody is our number 1 striker and AT has already said he could be leagues top scorer this season

He wants a proven goal scorer at this level or higher and possibly a target man who can score 15 goals a season ?

McDonald's fitness record does not stand much scrutiny either - 2 forwards are a must.

Because he wasn't fit. We still need more than just Cody: our backup is pretty weak and much as I wish Jeffers and Rod well, we need better than them for a promotion push. A striker of the quality of Fleck and Kilbane would be a superb addition.

we need at least 2 strikers, Thorn has said we need 2 strikers so i am going to guess we will sign 2 strikers!!! Nothing about Cody he is a good player in my book and it looks like he picked up a knock last week and missed the stinkley game as result Thorn wants him to catch up on lost fitness!

i agree with the need for another striker but i think jeffers needs to be given a chance i think he has a talent

We need to find our version of Grant Hoult or Ricky Lambert. A beast of a striker who knows where the back of the net is. Problem is, those players don't come for free, so a loan looks the most likely option.

Thorn also says nothing will be done until we get back from the Scottish tour!

I agree, this is a strange thing to do,Thorn said weeks ago the players have been identified that he wants, yet he goes on a week long tour without them.If the keogh decision has been made and he's off, he needs these players to be there now and jelling with the team and playing in competative friendlies, not after he comes back.

I can't see the sense in waiting a week, a week is vital at this stage of the pre-season. Get the buggers in and don't delay.

Why has'nt he signed up Jennings or Edgy if they impressed, does'nt make sense to me. If the freeing up of Keogh's wages and transfer money is to be used, use it, before they sign for someone else, which has happened before

Maybe we have to wait until Keogh signs for someone before he can move in the market? It's okay saying everyone knows he's off, but in business you can't plan until things are signed. What if we sign two or three players who we've funded from the proposed revenue of the Keogh deal and he breaks his leg in training? My Mrs broke her ankle stepping down a kerb last year. You just can't ever assume if budgets are inter-dependent

Hope so mate. I think people forget that he was very young during his previous loan spells. I actually thought he looked quite tidy last pre-season, he had a good game Saturday from what I've been told, and even last game last season against Saints he wasn't that bad-he held it up and layed it off nicely with his back to goal IMO. Probably the closest thing we have to a target man at the moment?

And with the way we had to wait for the Turner sale before we got Cody, there's a precedent here!

How long is it since we missed out on Collins, around 4 weeks??
Suggests waitng for loans to be released from top clubs, the funding side not so sure ,you'd assume the money was there 4 weeks ago ,maybe Fleck took that budget up as a surprise signing.:thinking about:

Are you suggesting there may be a fee involved?

he was very good on Saturday and at least took a shot even if it wasn't the best place to shoot from he had a pop.

Our turnover in this league is liable to be what, £5 to 6m. And the Keoght deal worth maybe £1m. There no way any business person will make investments in the parish of 20% of annual income without ink being dry. SISU or anyone. And you're correct, this does look like history repeating itself

I honestly dont think he will cut the mustard, with him scoring 1 goal in 23 games during loan spells in the past 2 seasons

That said, and to give some perpective, I would like to have Nimely back, but during the same period, his scoring record is 1 in 26 games out on loan

Hoisted by your own Nimely argument!

She's our new secret weapon. Her mission: seduce the ref. I'm fairly certain that Cardiff have been paying someone to do this for the past 3 seasons given the decisions that have been given against us. Sorry MMM, it's all for the Sky Blue Cause, I'm sure you don't mind ;)

That's a new and marginally disagreeable version of 'taking one for the team'!

Academy kids

Judging from saturdays performance, some of the kids coming through are going to really strengthen the squad - especially that Louis Garner kid. (TBF ANY ManU kid is going to be good at this level).

Unfortunately same cannot be said for the existing signings.

Fleck was the best of the signings, but was hardly convincing against a VERY poor Hinckley squad (I've been told they have lost 10 of the best players due to nearly being relegated last season)

The KK2 was doing a poor imitation of Sideways Sammy, and as for the other one. Well had it not been announced he was coming off, it would have been almost impossible to tell he even showed up!

This is extremely worrying considering he was signed as a STRIKER!

It also puts into focus the judgement of Thorn on his signings. Three of the 4 hardly showed up at all (I'll give it Malaga seemed OK), and his other striker was Cody McDonald.

In this league even to survive, they are going to need to score a MINIMUM of 50 goals this season.

He signed a STRIKER that scored 1 in 10! Even if he doubled his scoring tally, thats 10 goals from a striker in league 1! That is excessively poor even for an attacking midfielder - yet alone a striker!

However, with the kids going great guns, when the blind trust in Thorn goes away, there is a ready made replacement in either Carsley or Rioch. But first the team are going to have to go through the pain of being held back by Thorn

So we win 8 - 0 and that is cause for concern is it? It was the first game of pre season for gods sake. At least let the players settle in before we declare they are shit! We asked for goals and decent playing style, again shall we not wait until the season starts before we call for AT to be sacked and bring more inexperienced managers in!!

Thought it was a ridiculous post after one game, I went the game an thought they did ok. The kids looked really good but far far too early to start judging new signings

how can you judge McDonald in league 1 when he hasn't eve played a game yet in league 1 and was very unfit when he came to u last year, he hit the post about twice every match imo he was very unlucky last season , and thorn said Elliot wanted to show himself and just because he got injured he's rubbish, and fleck looked bad when he's had very little match time and has only trained with us for a week give them a chance.

I don't think 10 goals from an attacking midfielder is excessively poor.
