Lee Bowyer from Charlton apparently resigned and is expected to take over from Karanka

Given his character he may be able to inject some passion among them .
Potential to make Karanka look a technical wet lettuce I think.
Very difficult task ahead of him though.

Not a bad appointment but they were never going to bring in an established name.

Finances are tight and what reputable manager with a solid track record is going to go to Birmingham given the precarious nature of their position.

Interesting that he resigned. I wonder if Birmingham tapped him up to avoid paying a compensation fee?

Is it an emotional decision on his part though previous connection or a free hit whatever happens .
No blame on him should the trajectory persist .
Not sure what next season would bring for him though , just extreme difficulty financially should they still go down.

It's a good time for him to leave Charlton as they're outside the play offs

I thought they had stopped these sneaky resignations to avoid compo obviously if he has done that the league managers association will criticise him like they do clubs when they sack a manager even though they have been useless.

I did have a quick look at the table and noticed it didn't look particularly positive for them this season. Albeit they're only two points off 6th, but they've played two more games than the other teams around them. I can't see them going up this season - and clearly Bowyer thought the same.

To be fair I'm completely speculating.

I suspect one of two scenarios have happened. Either Bowyer realised the chances of Charlton achieving promotion this season are becoming unlikely and therefore put his hat in the ring whilst still under employment, or Birmingham have contacted Bowyer directly and the suggestion of resigning was broached in order for them to avoid paying compo.

I think the later is most likely either way would be wrong but tapping up seems accepted

Think Bowyer might keep them up

Too late. At best they sneak a win in their next 4 games. That would leave them with 6 games to go on 38 points. The optimist might see them win 3 out of their last 6, which would let them get 47. Can't see them getting more than that at the most. We have a better goal difference than them (likely to get bigger) so that requires us to pick up 9 points to finish above them. We ought to do that, and potentially we could get them with a few games to spare.

Bowyer might improve blues chances but still a lot to do to keep them up. Our fate is in our hands...got to keep plugging away and if we get 3 or 4 points this week it takes us a long way towards safety
