Which budget is he referring to ? Wages budget, turnover budget, transfer budget ? Combination of some or all?

The efl issue a wages budget I believe quarterly to operate the SCMP in leagues 1 and 2 but the same budget restrictions do not apply in the championship. It is a limit of losses over 3 years to 15m (from memory so I might have the figures and mechanics wrong )

In the lower leagues your wages budget is limited by the efl to a percentage of agreed turnover.

That doesn't appear to be the case in championship where it has more to do with what the owners set as budget to keep below a loss figure. So to some degree the budget we have is a choice.

We try to operate at a level where cash flow is balanced. Most clubs don't. So it is self limiting. I think all clubs should be like that rather than build losses but it is not a level playing field as it stands.

So MR blaming budget isn't necessarily as clear as it seems. The implication is that its because of efl rules and it isnt necessarily.

To achieve our player budget we relied on the player sales cash from the previous season. I am sure there has been some support from the owners sufficient to ensure survival in these covid times.

However the key thing with any budget set is how it has been spent. I have got to say so far it has been more £s than substance or quality. The squad assembled is struggling largely because the squad we have is not mentally and in some cases physically up to the task.

In league 1 we were nowhere close to the biggest budget or biggest wages spend ......... we went up as champions...... the deflection to budget size hides some home truths in the championship

Jesus Oldskyblue, thank you but this is going to take me an hour to compute.
That last paragraph intimates that Robins over achieved last season as well. I will now try and understand the rest apologies but you are on another planet to me!

Even if we stay up I want a change

We'd be starting from scratch. Not sure how long you've supported the club, but MR has been at the helm of a football team/club that was heading inexorably in the wrong direction He has performed minor miracles getting us back to where we are, Of course days like today are frustrating, but MR understands the workings of the club and it would be madness to get rid of him. If you were a Rotherham fan would you want rid of Paul Warne (they kept him last season and he brought them straight back up following relegation). Keep a bit of continuity and I think MR has deserved our/the club's loyalty, regardless of whether we stay up or not. Just my opinion.

The fact is we entered this league always likely to finish ahead of Wycombe and with Wednesday looking a basket case and docked points we’ve only got to finish ahead of Rotherham - who we did last season - to survive

There is zero excuse not to achieve that and if he doesn’t he’s failed
But he hasn't yet and you're still advocating change

I was wondering that but didnt as as assumed they would reply and I would find out, glad you asked though.

Do you think we should try and bring Cody McDonald back?

It’s a bizarre argument. Don Mackay wasn’t a great manager but he did a job and kept the club up - and was a lot better coach than Robins - no one believed Sillett would keep the club up - he was a lot better than Robins.

Robins has a budget and he’s spent it on Decosta, Kastaneer, Jobello etc hes offered Bakayoko a new deal - the club needs to stay up and now even on CWR fans are calling for his head who are phoning in and saying it
Didn't answer the question though did you , Answer it who and what would you have different from now ? Names and numbers , not fucking history , NOW !

He should just be told to walk home

He’s out of ideas and we are sliding fast. He’s not good enough at this level and he’s also like most managers stubborn and one dimensional

That performance was inexcusable - his January transfers are shite and his stubborn refusal to acknowledge even bakayoko is better than biamou and to change shape and formation will set us back

Thanks For the memories and all that but Boddy needs to act now

It’s an argument over time - who did you suggest replaced our worst manager in this league Andy Thorn? robins is about at his level in this league isn’t he?

I have always been a big fan of Robins, but he is picking a player up front who keeps missing sitters, or very good chances at least.

As has been said on lots of other posts, why haven't Walker and/or Godden been getting some match sharpness in the U23's?
Perhaps they aren't fit enough for that *and* being on the bench, and with a striker who's not the most regular scorer to say the least, the judgement is it's better to have them available for half an hour than not at all?

Am not saying he over achieved at all. I am saying a big budget doesnt guarantee anything. The squad were at their level last season. MR made better decisions with far less doubt in his mind because it was easier to do when the team were achieving. Success isn't about money only it is a mind set for everyone involved.

Every decision players or management this season has had an element of doubt that has increased the more we have struggled. That creates more doubt, less clarity, even sometimes burying head in sand or sheer stubbornness to keep doing the same thing because it will change just like last season.

It isnt just about budget, whichever budget that is.

Im not deflecting as it’s not my job but if we go down it’s clear you may has well have saved the money and not has a manager - it’s a lazy argument as I’d we go down no one could have done worse - now it’s panic stations - so then could had the keys to Viveash and see if he can dig us out the hole

I don't have issue with Biamou and its been unfortunate with Godden and Walker. However I would take you over Cody and I mean in his hey day, Shyte stole a living from us.

I think he has done a good job in league 1. A decent job in league 2. He has found it tougher and struggled a bit for more reasons than budget in the championship. He is decent enough and meets what we can afford for now but we all have our limitations. Do I want rid of him, not right now no but if we stay up he has to raise his game as much as the players do.

But the post was more about how people react to pressure and how that affects performance just as much as budget

Interesting views you are a far deeper thinker than myself. I know budgets are not everything look at Chris Wilder, until this year. However I do think 9 out of 10 times they are reflective and its very hard to buck that trend.

Get over yourself , want to give shit out to robins and city but when it comes down to what you want you have no answer, to who you want to replace him and what better player we could buy within our budget. Give the solution or shut the fuck up!

Don’t want him gone as the job he’s done I think he deserves the chance to keep us up.

That said I’m getting more concerned as things go on, he’s been too negative all season but to play one up today against the bottom team was a poor decision. I’ve not heard any reason yet why Walker didn’t start - is it fitness or was it tactics?

Staying up would be an achievement but also think we have to factor in what a bizzare season it’s been - COVID, Wednesday points deduction and the two teams that came up with us were surprises considering Posh, Sunderland and the like are still in L1.

This team needs a complete rebuild if we stay up and even with a Ricoh return our finances won’t be great. That means we need a decent manager that can recruit and dig out results.

Is that Robbins? I’m not sure
