I've even read some advocating bringing in an experienced head to advise Robins and his coaching team - that is absolute madness and would de-stabilise the team at a critical time.

Similarly calling for our manager to be replaced after 2 promotions in 3 seasons and with a more than decent chance of surviving in this division (an even bigger achievement) - it’s time to stop complaining, man up and for once support our manager and players.

I’m a glass half full kind of guy Sparksy! All to play for and I believe in Robins and his team...a couple of good results and things look far more positive. It’s really important we all keep the faith at this point of the season.

Since Robins has been back it is the away form against the bottom 6 teams that has been his achilles heel and is for me the manifestation of his away draw = a good point mentality. We've only scored 22 goals in 21 games away to the bottom 6, with just 6 wins from those matches.

We have proven ourselves capable of achieving good results against the better teams in every division but let ourselves down in the games we should be doing better in.

Last year was a better set of results away to the bottom 6 and reflects our final league position but we didn't win away for the first half of the season and I think the fixture list was kind to us in that we didn't play the majority of the bottom teams away until the unbeaten snowball had considerable momentum.

This year that slow point accumulation approach has spilled over into some of the home games too and we've had a lot of 0-0 draws were we appeared to have settled for the point pretty early on in the games.

If Robins keeps us up, he's done the job but having seen the teams in this division now, it's been harder than it;s needed to be. He has to get a better squad balance for next season - the core of the team needs seems urgent re-work if we are to push on.

26 managers in the last 20 years suggests it maybe time to try and stick with one for a while. Mark Robins comes in and slowly brings in his own staff, his own players and his own philosophy. I hope he is also having an impact on the style played by the under 23's and the youth teams.
You sack him and then the new manager will want his own staff, his own players and will have his own philosophy. It leads to a new culture change that will likely take years for them fully imbed. During their time trying to achieve this they will no doubt have a rocky patch. At this point some will want them sacked and off we go again on a little merry go round of distrubtion and change.

That's not how well run clubs do things. You don't let the manager take control of everything because if he gets the sack or leaves then you don't want to have to change everything up. The style of play should go through the club and you only hire a manager that has a similar philosophy. The recruitment department works with the manager, the academy manager brings through players suitable for the team style of play.

Changing a manager doesn't have to be such a problem if the structure is there, Barnsley showed that. We might be better off if we have the structure in place to bring in someone that can change things up mid game, doesn't needlessly drop and fall out with our players and doesn't insist on playing poor players. Even if he set the system up it doesn't mean it goes with him.

I'm not saying that will be better for us but after Saturday I am now pondering on it because it's clear that things aren't right at the moment.

The draw in isolation isn’t the problem. It’s the fact we’ve pinned our hopes on not losing games, and winning the games against the likes of Wycombe.

the last 2 games have been awful, we created one chance against Derby and max shockingly took it, Derby were dreadful and didn’t look like scoring if they played until next week. We were bad against Middlesbrough and Forest. We should have took the game to Blackburn but we didn’t.

The problem isn't James and Kelly - it's James and Hamer. While Kelly holds back to protect the back three, Hamer and James are occupying almost the same space, and not one of our central midfielders makes it across the halfway line. I'm guessing one of them was tasked with probing forward, but it never happened. Meanwhile our WBs are being pinned into their own half, meaning Biamou and O'Hare have to practically cling onto each other to avoid getting isolated, and they're easily contained.

These problems have been with us all season to some extent. But I don't understand why MR thought it was so important to control the midfield against a team that largely bypasses it.

I don't generally comment much as I like to dip in and out, but having read the title of this thread I HAD to reply.

If anyone is seriously asking for Robins to leave they must be out of their minds. The guy has single-handedly taken the most woeful Coventry City team I have ever had the displeasure to witness, and taken us from League Two to the Championship in no time at all. As well as winning silverware with a team that included Kyel Reid!

Did you honestly think we'd be walking this league? Money matters, unfortunately, and Robins is doing what he can with limited support.

From the very first game of the season I felt we played the kind of football we have come to love under Robins and should have had many more points was it not for silly mistakes at the back or some poor finishes. Unfortunately, those mistakes are going to happen as we do not have the financial clout to buy any better. Max shouldn't have started on Saturday, but he is all Robins has in that mould (holding the ball up and bringing others into play). His confidence is shot but it appears our other options are not ready yet.

And why are people saying Robins shouldn't have played one up front. Some of you have very short memories. How many did we play up front last season against Wycombe? Oh, that's right, One! And what was the score? 4-1 to city! We played one up front on Saturday and had about 3 sitters within the first 15 minutes.

Look, we know it's not perfect but it was never going to be. But the last thing we need is a change of manager. We need to trust in Robins to get us over the line and then push on next season with bums on seats and a few more pennies to play with. You need to have patience and we finally need consistency. Changing it again will only end in tears.

Oh, and I'd take Grendel with a pinch of salt. 'Grendel' is taken from the Anglo-Saxon Beowolf, and is a creature of darkness exiled from happiness. I think he likes to play his 'Iago' type games with you all!! Unless that is just your name Grendel, and if that is so, I apologise!!

Totally agree with you however I don't believe we have such a structure as you describe, certainly not in the past anyway.
