I thought the EFL was investigating?

Anyway - it obviously looks really bad. I would guess they messed up on protocols and/or someone acted out. But without knowing what the day-to-day protocols are, it's not impossible that Rotherham just got really, really unlucky. And you have to assume that no club is totally immune.

That's the question isn't it. There's supposed to be procedures in place to stop this spreading if a club has one or two cases and that seems to have worked at every other club. It could just be bad luck but you'd expect it to be looked at even if only to be able to advise other clubs on additional precautions that might be needed.

Nope. Reported in the Rotherham local press that there would be the standard questions surrounding any postponement but the EFL had no plans to investigate further as they were "happy".

It should be fairly simple for the efl, when Rotherham did this ask them to produce a list of injured players and suspended ones, when the games are rescheduled the players aren’t allowed to play.

Was on BBC news this evening for some reason town of Rotherham are suffering high cases of covid way above country average

Yes, which they're putting down to the industry in the area. Not sure why that's relevant to the football club though, especially as clubs in other high case areas (Barnsley, Hull, Lincoln, Peterborough etc) have all managed to record zero cases.

This has gone quiet again. Date still not confirmed? Do we think that we have stated the date we wish to play on, but Rotherham are pleading to the EFL to come up with something different for them? Thursday 15th April has been referred to a lot, but still no confirmation...........what is happening?

I thought they were looking at 14/15 April
14 would mean them pulling their QPR game forward one day, so playing saturday/Monday/Wednesday/and then sunday
They wanted 15th to get an extra day in between
We wanted 14th

So are we waiting for the EFL to arbitrate then? I remember Warne saying he understood us not wanting to help them out.

Not sure how they really could have gained anything by it - and would leave themselves open to all sorts of issues by a disaffected whistle blower (which could happen at any time), so no - I don't believe it is a contrived position.

I'm really unsure how people still believe Rotherham have somehow advantaged themselves through postponing games when they have to play 12 fixtures within a 5 week window with one of the smallest squads in the league.

Agreed - if a club received a harsh punishment for such a thing, as a club I'd be straight back to argue that this time last year football was curtailed, 12 months on with a more transmissible variant of the virus it is being played. How in these circumstances can a club honestly be punished? There is no absolute protection from transmission, football is a group environment with necessary close contact.

You probably not aware that they had around 6 or 7 key players injured at that time...Covid was a great way of giving themselves breathing space...You've only got to look at their results since their mini hiatus...they now have a massive psychological advantage...and will fight for their lives!
Quite frankly it stinks...ask the Bluenoses...their not happy either....

Severely punishing clubs for outbreaks would only serve to open a can of worms for the EFL where potential law suits down the line would likely follow. Clubs can only mitigate the risk of the spread through their Covid policies, they can't prevent it altogether.

The EFL were never going to get involved and why would they. Calls for points deductions and fines from the same typically uninformed posters simply highlighted their bias and frankly were ridiculous.

I don't give this apparent fixture congestion much weight. Playing Sat, Tues, Sat, Tues, Sat, etc etc is part and parcel of the football league. Yes they have a week where they have to squeeze another in but they'll manage. Not much time for training but it's been like that most of the season..

Managers up and down the English pyramid repeatedly complain year on year how taxing and debilitating the Christmas/new year fixture congestion is on their respective squads.

Imagine how debilitating it would be doing that twice over - especially with a squad the size of Rotherham's. For reference, Rotherham are playing 12 games in around 37 days I believe.

Presume we'll have to move other games to accommodate this unless we're agreed to play Thur > Sat > Wed.
