Do you know what. I ain’t bothered. I don’t know why a teacher would want to show one to a classroom though. If for no other reason than it was easier not to. All he had to say was that images of Muhammad is considered blasphemy in Islam. Job done, that’s religious education. Not satisfied with that this teacher actively looked for a cartoon image, must have stumbled across how controversial a subject it is given how the two are linked and at no point thought to themselves I better not do that. I’d question that teachers ability to be a teacher.

It was only a couple of years ago there was an amendment to the law so Sikh’s could carry kirpans without fear of prosecution. Just last year a book had to be withdrawn from the classrooms following protests from Hindus. Also last year Christians protested when a school introduced Yoga classes.

I do agree about my Sikh and Hindu friends for many years but I have to sayI have as many Muslim brothers in work who are quite wonderful people who are people of outstanding character

A lot of fuss about Hindu nationalism in India at the moment. Modi shut down tanneries in what many see as an attack on Indian Muslims (clearly Hindus cannot work there).

I'm not a big fan of judging people in groups. I like how most people behave and I dislike how some others do. Muslims aren't terrorists; it's just that some terrorists are Muslims. Other terrorists are Christians; Atheists... It's the terrorist thing that's bad, not the religion.

Still not up for any religion trying to tell non-believers what they can do though.

Unlikely but it does raise the question of halal meat. Many non Muslims refuse to eat it or get angry about the prospect of eating it. Just to prove irrationality exists on both sides of the argument.

It's not irrational. It's absolutely barbaric and cruel.

I haven't eaten meat for almost 3 years now, and I wouldn't again. Doesn't mean I want to stop everyone else, but the treatment of animals is a disgrace.

Also, if you think free speech is dangerous. Try living somewhere where there isn't any.

Tony, we're being unfair to you. We should give you more time. Get in touch with Woke HQ, find out what you're supposed to think and get back to us when you've been told your opinion.

What I will say is that we ever met and you were being unfairly attacked, verbally or physically, I would stand up for you - even in the knowledge that you'd have me arrested for a non-crime hate incident under the same circumstances.

Think you’ve missed the point here. I think the whole episode here is absurd from start to finish. Your reference to ‘social justice warrior’ is too because it’s irrelevant.

Instead of parents/religious leaders kicking up a stink...if they were really serious about the issue then they’d send someone from the local Muslim community into school to explain and educate as to why it was deemed offensive, and it wouldn’t have needed to go any further.

It’s no more barbaric than any slaughter of meat. You just don’t have what goes on in abattoirs rammed down your throat like you are when it comes to halal meat.

Free speech is not free of consequences, such as the right to be offended from that free speech. You could also argue that the protesters are also demonstrating they’re right to free speech.
