Am i missing something? Carvalho was 38 at the time. Stones currently is better than Carvalho was at 38 surely?

Carvalho was 36 .

I'd still rather he played CB for a couple tournament games than stones because unlike stones carvalho could defend very very well

Stones is better on the ball ofcourse ...Maguire is simply not a top level defender I'm sorry , never will be

Ah right ok dates mixed up in my head .. I mean yea 38 he's past his best .
I mean the ability difference isn't comparable either tbh ..stones was never at any age as good as carvalho .
It's like saying Matthew upson when he was 26 was better than Nesta at 36 .

He wasn't because he was never in that league of player to begin with

Maybe not, but I'd rather have a League winning CB starting for us than a 38 year old legend. But thats just personal preference.

You can either play to your strengths or try to compensate for a weakness. The great Italian sides of the past had their strength in being almost invulnerable at the back, so just had to nick a goal from somewhere. Others like Brazil got through with appalling goalkeepers and average centre backs because they were an irresistible force in attack.

We do not have world class keepers or centre backs, but we are overflowing with quality going forward and at full/wing back we have quality too. Needs a manager who isn't afraid to let the shackles go

Doesn’t matter whether it neymar or or sterling... it’s cheating and needs to be stamped out by authorities. Need to be retrospective measures against players and teams
