There isn't really any MSM I trust. The Guardian is more truthful in its reporting than the Mail but it still has a clear centrist agenda.

It constantly shows up as more trustworthy on media bias checking sites. Its still classed as mixed on mediabiascheck which isn't a ringing endorsement.
The mail,sun and express don't rate well at all for reliability.

But should free speech and the right to post what you want be allowed? Like I say, big debate.

Ultimately Facebook and twitter are self regulated businesses and are fine to choose what they want and don't want on their platforms .

Problem is both sites influence people and can potentially set in stone their beliefs for life

You could argue both sites are creating anger and hatred , both sites enable extreme movements and both sites are causing social problems ...

There has been minimal reporting of the issues affecting the fishing industry and the drop in exports to the EU.
If it was going well the main.protaganists would be all over the news crowing about it but they're not (if the tide turns they'll be straight out of the woodwork).
And the rioting in NI has explicit links to Brexit as do the threats carried out against customs staff there.

That doesnt mean anything. Several tory landowners and media tycoons, all prominent brexiteers, all received large hand outs from the EU.

The problem is most people don't have the time to research every big news story to get to the unbiased truth.
We needed media who do their job properly without pushing an agenda. A pipe dream of course.

That is the thing with social media and the internet - a 'scoop' is now virtually impossible so stuff just gets thrown out there without the diligence it might have got because you can't be 'news' if you're behind everyone else. It's worth throwing it out there to be first and take the consequences of being wrong than it is to verify everything.

The biggest news papers and websites in this country have been socially conservative at best to downright racist at worst forever. Similarly they’ve been small state, pro business, pro Tory forever.

The fact the fucking Guardian exists isn’t proof of a liberal conspiracy in the media. Are university educated people living in London generally socially liberal and centrist economically? Yes, no shit. Is there a London bias in the media generally? Yes.

But the answer isn’t to turn to a bunch of right wing think tank YouTube channels and faux grass roots bollocks like Darren Grimes and the army of bots on SM and the fucking Canary on the other side.

The answer is to diversify the media economically, geographically and philosophically while still maintaining basic journalistic standards and accountability. And to treat the internet as the dumpster fire it is.

I judge the media off more than brexit too btw , you keep saying brexit but it's a small part of the larger problem .

What I want is impartiality.

When there's a debate on BBC, on channel 4 whatever , have fair representation...it never was fair in regards to brexit

I think it probably should be allowed but if there are no supported links the 'unverified' thing should be the standard, not tagged on afterwards after checking. Of course people might put in citations and links which themselves are dodgy and you end up with a circle of stuff verifying each other. Chances are most people wouldn't click on them to fact check anyway.

The Guardian stopped being a reasoned, left of centre paper quite some years ago. Today it has a more obvious agenda and the online edition has become almost unreadable.

The only papers left worth reading are the Telegraph and, especially, The Times. But you do have to allow for the bias. In particular, the Telegarph sometimes seems to have turned into a right-wing version of the Guardian. with obvious agenda and partisan view.
