Pask is better than Hyam (5 Viewers)

That is all...
Pask was definitely very impressive today and deserves to start next time round. In terms of whether he's the better player - we're probably not comparing like-for-like here as Hyam has started nearly every game this season whereas Pask is relatively fresh. It will be interesting to see who we bring in during the summer and how Pask and Hyam fit into the equation.

Pask impressed many of us with his pace and calmness when he first came, and then got injured IIRC.
He hasn't been given a fair chance though, and this is something MR could be criticised for. He does stick with favourite players too long when they are not performing well I think.

Played well but it’s only one game. Like to see him given a proper run in the team and after Hyam’s recent run of poor form it’s an ideal opportunity to do so.

I don’t read anything into what the youth team management said at West Ham once upon a time. They released him so obviously didn’t rate him that highly.

Let’s not write off Hyam just yet, he was quality last season but there is no doubt struggled this. It’s all down to combinations at the back though and we’ve lacked pace most of the season. It might be that Hyam, with a Pask alongside him performs better. Who knows ! Robins should’ve tried some different combinations as we’ve had problems all season

People have to remember this is the first time nearly the whole team/squad has played in the championship. They’re all learning together. For some it will price a step too far, others might kick on next season (if we can stay up) better for the experience

ps Pask definitely deserves to retain his place, was very good today

He's quick but he's poor on the ball. Then again, Hyam is slow and is poor on the ball.

Pask was excellent today, and at least we now know we have some decent competition at the back.
It's hard on Hyam to say Pask is better, based on 1 game, as many players often have a dip in form at some stage. One thing I've noticed about MR is that he tends to stay too loyal to players when it's obvious to all that they need a rest. Hamer is a typical example, he should of been rested a month or 2 ago.

Quality today. Feel so much better when the defence are no nonsense and just clear the lines. Nothing wrong with that as defenders. The one time we tried to pass it around again we conceded. Pask is no nonsense and got good size and pace, hope he can stay fit and would deserve a place in squad next season for sure.

Would like to see Dom given a run on the other side. He's a victim of being more versatile and it's cost him and the team more than once. Imo neither Pask or Hyam are the answer and need a left footer on that left side of 3 so their first thought is forwards after an interception. Unfortunately Fadz, Hyam, Osti, Rose and Pask are all more comfortable on their right.

Pask did well today, but it's only one game.

I like Pask a lot, he has a good all round game. Perhaps that has worked against him in terms of getting game time at CB - good at everything without being outstanding at anything particular.
Does comes across a bit timid for a CB, which is something that can also be levelled at Hyam and Rose so I was pleased to see that a couple of times yesterday he left an attacker on the deck after 50/50s. Would like to see him bulk up a bit over the summer - looks like a long distance runner not a dominating CB at the moment.

Pask got done with a ball over the top with awful positioning in the first half that lead to a chance for Semenyo. Even if he had a perfect game we should wait for a sample size of more than 90 mins before we decide he's better than somebody who by and large has been a consistent performer for 4 seasons for us.

Don't be ridiculous and logical Tom.

This is SBT; where some of the loudest voices (name no names but we know who they are) form opinions of players even before they step onto the pitch and then spend years trying to promote their original view 'that player is shit and not up to the level' and become blind to good performances from that player.

For some it's clearly far more important on here to be seen as 'being right' and supposedly winning arguments vs. supporting our players on the pitch or even our manager.

To take that argument further there seems to be more enjoyment for some in losing games and then having the opportunity to put the boot into a player or manager vs. winning - applies to only a very loud minority on here admittedly but it's there and constant. They then hide behind the argument of ' we only want what is best for the team'.......as if constant derision or abuse of a targeted player or repeated calls for the manager to be sacked....really helps the team.

Need to compare them like for like in this league.

League 2 and 1 is irrelevant.

You can play Hyam in any the centre back positions he isn’t going to get any quicker, our defence has been far to slow this year. They need to learn from yesterday the only time they really pissed about with it at the back we conceded, the position we are in let’s bang it into the corners and chase it a bit the opposition don’t score often from their own half.

That ball over the top and you could easily of mistaken him for Hyam. However, Pask can find a ten yard pass so there's a bonus .
