For me Sam has improved amazingly. From Herne bay to Championship in rapid time, He's quick, brave and good in the air, and still young and learning. Not sure why we think we can get much better than that - plus fits our model. Probably won't get him, but I'd be more than happy if he was here next year. If not, let's hope Reid or Newton can kick on (or kick wingers!)
I'm probably being a bit hard on him. He played well on Monday but previously seems to lack concentration. He's no where near the Norwich team so your wish may come true

I think Sam will go on loan to another championship side next season. Norwich aren’t going to chuck millions away for no reason, and he would get more / different experience with a different team. Not ready for Norwich yet, but they’ve got time to keep developing him before they call it a day so why would they get rid?

Probably. He's still young and adjusting to a huge step up in class. Time is on his side to get better. I just don't want to be the team that irons them out to give to someone else. They could let us have him back if they got to cancel any remaining payments but i don't know if we'd consider that value for money or not - no idea how much is left to pay. Also he's going to have got a decent pay increase from that move so we'd have to give him higher wages.

I'd look around for an alternative before deciding to go for him again. We could do a lot worse, but we might also be able to do better.

Kelly Mcfazdean and Hyam are out of contract (one year option on Hyam)

I would only keep Kelly as a squad player. In someways Mcfadz deserves another year but you know his legs will be completely gone next year. In professional sport there is no room for sentiment outside of a contract.

If he was offered back same again I think we’d probably have to take it and use the money elsewhere, he’s not done too bad this season for his first in the division. Better would be a mirror image of the Dabo from last season.

Mccallum is and will be a top top player. We would be lucky to get him again next year

Will be maybe, but he’s been a key part of why the defence and attack have been poor this season and his good games come once every ten or so matches, I don’t think we’ve got enough quality to carry him right now.

McCallum had a dip in form this year (as expected for a player so young) but he has great potential. He has been made to look bad at times because of a lack of cover in front of him and a left-sided CB lacking in confidence. If Norwich decide they can't be bothered to pay further installments on him and we can get a decent deal I would definitely sign him. People forget that both he and Dabo had excellent stats not so long ago. I very much doubt we can get better than him and relying on Reid coming good in his 1st season is too much of a gamble I think.

You only gain championship experience by playing there. This is most of our squads first time at this level. If we stay up they will know the standards required and what they need to improve on. I dont think Robins will bin off half the squad on that basis.

I’m hoping it’s telling Kelly and mcfadzean haven’t signed new deals. I’m hoping it means although they are important to us these last 7 games they have players lined up who can replace them. I may be stupidly optimistic but that’s what I’m thinking

Any Wycombe players worth us looking at if we stay up? (I don't mean re-signing Grimmer before someone kicks off about that!)

The best player they own is probably Joe Jacobson and hes 34 now.

If we keep Biamou, Wilson or Jones we may as well just become a registered charity
100% agree on Biamou and Wilson. Jones I feel we've put so much into his rehab we may as well give him a basic contract weighted heavily in our favour to see if we can get something out of him.

No point in letting Jones go after paying him through 3 rehabilitations. Give him another season with an option in the club's favour.

Isn’t that what we did last year though? Shall we just keep him forever in case he magically gets back fit one year?

He wasn’t proven in league 1 4 years ago and he won’t have improved in these last 4 years. If by some miracle, the same Jones as 4 years ago comes back after these injuries, there’s still doubts whether he would be good enough

Course but no reason not to take a chance

In a weird way I think it's possible McFadz could reject us. If we're looking to progress he should only be a backup choice here. Osti, or a player like him, should be bought in over the summer, a younger less error prone McFadz. He may well think that he'd rather be first choice in league 1 than backup in the Champ at his age.

I'd take the option on Hyam and make him compete for the RCB role after bringing in a LCB.

Kelly should be offered 2 years.

We might have more success moving players on now if the lockdown roadmap goes to plan so clubs at the level below can budget properly and not have to deal with that ridiculous wage cap.

Agree re the point on Hyam. He started off the season well and probably has the best left foot out of our plethora of right-footed CBs

Perhaps a victim of his versatility to a degree as teams have definitely caught on to that and targeted our left side more, especially evident in opposition press

IMO while he's not a great progressive ball passer, he's still a better defender than Rose. Be interesting to see how he got on in the RCB role

We definitely need a new keeper but I’d keep Wilson over Marosi as number 2. He’s done it his whole career, he’d be on a 1/4 of the wage and you would think there would be some league 1 interest in Marosi.

Bye bye Biamou then

I said in summer Biamou should go along with Bakayoko.

He has done better than I expected but his finishing is awful.

But he is here and I dont feel the need to bang on about him week in week out.

The thing with Biamou is budget might dictate we have to keep him.
Bringing in two quality strikers will cost and other areas of the team will require attention.

If the price of bringing in a quality striker is having Biamou as 4th choice I could live with that. I wonder what the plans are for the lad from Rochdale?
I actually think we have two quality strikers. What we need, is a third choice with the potential to be as good / better than them, and push them.

In terms of budget, immediate first team striker is lower down my list. What we need more is the platform for those strikers.

We might already have that player on loan from Brighton. I think he just needs some regular game time - which he could well get as I think we will have to nurse Godden through the last seven games.
