I'd completely reverse this. If Barnsley go up, it's a triumph of smart management and intelligent use of resources.

What's embarrassing is that to do well in the Premier League it now seems that a team needs billionaire backers.

If Barnsley should get promoted on their merits, by being one of the best teams in the Championship, but subsequently sink without trace in the Premiership, as they well might, then the problem isn't with them; it's with the gulf that's been created between the divisions by the vast amounts of money sloshing around at the top.

Until something is done to make this more equitable, then any team that goes up (including maybe, one day, us), is likely to struggle.
When I say embarrassing I meant that they would come straight back down with a similar points tally as Sheffield United. They’d get a premier league pay day though so it would set them up well for the future. I like seeing them do well but I worry about the reality if they achieve promotion

In my opinion we’d totally rebuild, like we did on promotion to the championship, still likely not to be good enough though given our budget.

I’m hoping we do the same if we survive this season, which I’m confident we’ll do. A result from Sunday probably seals it for me and thankfully, we’ve had some good home results against the teams in and around playoffs.

we’ll be a tough proposition after 8 days rest, but your gaffers got as good a chance as any to stop us from winning, he did his homework and came up with the goods to stop us at our place.

If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on a draw or a Barnsley win. Our home form is a lot better than our away form, but equally, Barnsley have a very good away record.

If Birmingham beat Rotherham and we get a draw, that should see us safe.

After our exertions on Thursday, I really can't see us getting anything out of this one. We have the home advantage which often works for us but I can't see that happening.

Wilson to keep his place, Walker dropped for Biamou and Hamer to replace O'Hare would be the only changes I could see being made. Walker looked borderline uninterested until he got injured and O'Hare was either knackered after all his running or the continued fouling on him took its toll.

Final score : Coventry 1-2 Barnsley.

And Rotherham 0-2 Brum.

Ridiculous though it sounds I get the feeling if Walker smiled a bit more some of our fans would ease up on him. We need pace up front to get behind Barnsley's high defensive line so for that reason I would prefer a front 2 of Walker and Gyokeres, over Godden & Biamou.

You could well be right. Since his arrival, he hasn't seemed happy. Even when he scores, the smile looks forced. If he looked like he's enjoying his football and more importantly to the fans, looked like hqe's enjoying being at the club would probably change how fans perceive him. But I'll disagree on the front 2, God and Biamou would be my preferred pairing though I'll admit Gyoko and Walker would play in a similar style.

Not all fans. Couldn’t care less if he smiles.
And if Biamou starts tonight over Walker it would be ridiculous. He hardly wins anything in the air, and he’s not exactly going to run in behind their back line.

I'm not sure if that's just part of his personality? Like just a laid back / cool character, basically the opposite of Ostigard?

Ahh its nice to be on the match thread rather than the current point scoring/bickering threads that was above this important one!

Godden has disappointed me so far since his injury, ok he is not up to match speed but how many games do we let him be on the pitch to get up to speed when we are desperate for goals? Play Viktor and Walker, Max only comes on if we are absolutely desperate and I mean ABSOLUTELY !!

Morning people, what time we starting drinking? Big game for both clubs today, a draw is shite for both of us, but not as bad as a loss. Going to be a tough game for both teams today.

Until Rotherham win and we all start going into meltdown 🤣🤣🤣

Glad that Rotherham's game is taking place before ours, so I will have time to decide between donning my a 'bit nervous' or my 'very nervous, extra lining pants'

A draw would be a good result for us. An extra point towards safety against a top six team is positive

Is Walker fit? Took a nasty bump on Thursday and then went off not long after. Not heard Robins mention it so assume he's ok?

Not saying it's an omen, but I've just had a pair of Max Biamou's boots dropped off at my house, (size 11, in case anyone's interested!).
