He's struggled at times this season, but I have to say he was fantastic tonight.
Dacosta also had his best game.
Why the fuck cant they play like that every game?
I think it's a lot to do with the fact that Godden and Walker have been missing for most of the season - Godden is still not 100% and Walker has his critics but I see a real player there.
With those two on the pitch and with the movement they have - they give us much more impetus to take the game to the oppo. Kelly fully fit is also hugely important to us.

You’re spot on mate. But I think for the most part it is a very small (if loud) minority. Away from SBT in the real world I haven’t spoken to one fan who wants him gone or doesn’t appreciate what a great job he will have done keeping us up this season.

Spot on - just unfortunate that we have to endure those loud minority twats on here.
Constantly hysterical and always looking to criticise individual players/call a taxi for Robins/appoint Jackett.

Excellent performance from McCallum last night. Much better defensively.

I have to say some of the comments in this thread are rather strange though. Despite his performance, it's quite clear he's often struggled this season. An excellent performance against a fatigued and poor Rotherham side doesn't change that. Neither does it qualify him to be sent out to a top 6 side next season - which to put it bluntly, simply won't happen.

Fantastic performance regardless though, certainly one to be proud of.

Been one of the players of the season for me, only going to get better. The long throw is a massive asset too, would be lucky to have him back next season on loan and think it would suit us and Norwich.

Yeah he’s a contender. Out of him COH, Fadz and Osti for me.

We’d do well to get him next season but not impossible with Norwich going up. Unless an apparent promotion contender puts their hand up to take him like Sheff Utd or Fulham. Unlikely though.

They’re more likely to look to sell him IMO.

If Norwich don’t see a future for him then we should buy him back permanently. Player of the season for me.

At 20, with his attributes and rapidly improving I imagine they do see a future for him there. But unlikely he’ll be knocking the first team door next season.

I do think £3m or whatever it was they paid will look a steal in 18 months or so.

I've come to the conclusion that he's a left back, not a left wing back. He tackles well and wins the ball in the air but his distribution is God-awful.

An area that Norwich sent him back for to improve his defensive duties well he's been brilliant the last 3games in that aspect of his game.hopefully they will send him to Coventry next season.

Very close between him and O'Hare for player of the season. Really talented player

Sam has played really well recently, but tonight I thought a lot of the danger from Stoke came down our left side. In fact, I thought both fullbacks were, and are, susceptible to the ball played inside them.

Norwich going up could work either way. They still see him as a prospect and look to loan him back to us.

Or, they want to sell and in which case we'll not be able to afford.

His long throws are vital by the way. I'm glad Robins has finally seen sense in utilising them.

Has played well the last three games people forget he is still only 20. Will he get into next seasons Norwich 25 man squad ? perhaps not but from a personal point of view needs to be playing, so maybe a permanent deal can be worked out, he is a good defender, left sided, we know what we will be getting and we need at least a couple of left sided defenders Josh Reid to come in too, be interest what transpires with him.

i think it has done him no good not having to compete for the lb/lwb spot, i rate Sam but when you are number 1 and don't have much competition then naturally you ease off.

no coincidence that him improving over the last few games has seen us get better results, you could say the same for Dacosta, he hasn't been great but he has improved defensively.

I think more top 10 and if £1.5m was offered we’d be out. If it’s a loan we would be in a good position

We'd be mad to miss out if £1.5m (didn't Norwich sign him for between £2m- £3m?). He's only going to get better, and at his age, his value is only going to increase. Unless one of the new lads is going to be of similar(ish0 quality, I'd buy him back if we can, or loan if we can't.

He has been excellent in the last 4 games, his long throw is a real weapon, it makes you wonder why it took so long for Robins to use it.

He had been pretty average and inconsistent up until this final run in, which for me means he shouldn't be a player of the season contender. That said I'm really pleased he has stepped up and showing his ability. I do agree with what others have said though, in this league he is a left back not a wing back.

Robins took the shackles off the team past 4 games we went positive

We also went more direct, played 2 up and went back to front a lot more. We aren't good enough to pass through teams in this league.

This is how I see it. He's been a good player, but his passing at times in the first half of the season, when we were playing it out a bit more, could be pretty inconsistent.

The system/way we are currently playing seems to have had an effect and the last few games (albeit I couldn't watch last night) he has been brilliant. Making the right decisions, loads of energy, doesn't seem to tire and been brave/forward thinking with the ball.
