Like to see what Reid can do and with godden and Walker likely to be our starting strikers next season be good to try and build a partnership.

I would hope Reid would be in the squad before the season is done and at least get some minutes from the bench. Psychologically this should be good for him in preparation for next season.

Just thought I would bump this back up to the top.
Dont you all realise we have a game tomorrow or have we all now given up 😂

I know we're not mathematically safe, but it feels like a bit of a dead rubber. It's another 3/4 months until our next truly competitive game - after the euphoria of 3 wins on the spin, perversely I almost miss the drama of worrying about relegation now. And as an aside, this lack of fear or hope is exactly why the ESL was destined to fail.

Won't be surprised if we lose this one, PNE have played ok last couple of games, plus have had an extra days rest - we seem to have picked up a few knocks (give O'Hare's legs a rest). Assume Hamer will start with James, and maybe Eccles. Walker got kicked a lot by that Stoke numpty, and I'd like to see Gyo start a game, now that we're safe. Osti to decapitate Ched Evans.

Strongest team, 3 points, 14th place and keep top half finish possible hopefully.
I know I said the exact opposite before the Stoke game, but look at this:

We need to climb three places to finish 12th, beat Preston and that’s two. We then need to win our last two games and hope two of the following teams fail to hit 60:

Stoke: need four points and play Forest, QPR, Bournemouth. Could easily lose two.

Luton: Need 3 points in 4 games, likely.

Millwall: Only need a point but have Watford away, Bristol City, then us. Basically is Bristol beat them, last game of the season is a playoff for top half.

Wilson
Osti MacF Hyam
DaCosta James Kelly Sam Mac
Hamer
Godden Walker (Viktor G if Walker is struggling to be fit for whatever reason)

Rest O'Hare
We want to be as high up the table as possible, every place counts - top of the bottom half wwould be a real achievement. It's good for morale.

Bring on the extras as subs. Bapaga would be top of the queue rather than Reid, for me.

Kelly won't start after that collision with the goalpost - let Eccles replace him.

Might as well have a bit of a gamble on this and play some fringe players.

When was the last time we were able to play knowing that we were safe / not striving for a promotion spot?

Bapaga, Tavares etc might as well get a start.

we need to keep playing our strongest team not because we still need to be mathematically safe but because winning games is fun, good for the players after a tough season and provides a positive launch pad for the season to come. Summer training would be much betteer on the back of a strong finish.

We also still have a lot of questions about whether certain senior players who have missed much of the season are really good enough - Godden, Kelly, Hyam, Walker.Rather than blooding players I would rather a good long look at what is near as dammit our best side from the current crop. Injuries have prevented that.

Tavares hasn’t been on the bench yet and has scored 1 U23 goal, he’s a while off starting a game in the Championship.

I think our current form is showing these players are good enough once we can play our best players together for a period of time some thing we haven’t been able to do for over half the season.
Football teams constantly evolve and there will new players coming in and some of the old guard moving on

I'm looking forward to the game of course, but it seems such an anti-climax compared to this kind of time last week!

That is a good thing though, certainly.
