Maybe someone with a legal background could answer this, but is there anything legally that would stop Coventry city setting up a seperate transfer kitty, comprising of £10 a month incentivised payments from fans? I would happily sign up to a transfer fund where we could track the "pot" so to speak. Sounds simple but I'm assuming there is a reason they don't do it. Would it be simply the owners wouldn't want their transfer budget publicly available?

I'm not sure you'd get a large take up on that. Not only is it tough times but people give to the club with ticket money, TV money and merchandise as well as potentially sponsoring.

What would they do with the money if they only raised, say, £10k? Pay a decent players wages for a fornight?

I do like the idea...just don't think it would make much of a difference/impact on current transfer budget.

so would be used instead of not in addition to the current budget
if 2000 people signed up to this - it is still only £240k per year -
if you get a good free transfer at this level, it wouldnt cover their wages

Yeah would be on top of whatever the owners set aside from tickets and memberships etc.

@shmmeee had an idea a while back about a tiered membership which sounded good. Because of the model the club run I feel they need to be more innovative with looking for alternative schemes to increase revenue. If anyone has any good ideas happy to pitch them to the club.

Buy shares in players for a percentage of a sell on fee 👀

how about a shares issue the fans could buy into?? much like the scheme we had years ago, before SISU and Ransom said give us your shares or we don't buy the Club!!! How that could have turned out. hindsight eh?

They need to be more proactive full stop. I never see adverts or marketing, they don’t seem to sweat their contacts list.

The fundamental issue IMO is they see themselves as an events business and not a brand. Look at modern influencers and how they build a brand and give as many opportunities for people to send them money for small rewards and build loyalty.

Access, (good quality) merchandise, exclusive content, subscriber tiers, all that jazz is how brands are monetised these days. Being at a match should be the pinnacle, but supporting a club is so much more than that.

On merchandise: I have very little stuff at home from the CCFC shop, but do have stuff like Badly Drawn Pannini posters. The club needs to either hire someone or make partnerships with the independents making better stuff than they are so some of that money comes their way as well.

We can’t get people to buy season tickets, never mind contribute to a transfer fund.

For the time being. When crowds are allowed back there will be more available . Let’s see how many we can sell eh.
That doesn't really make sense. You just said we have trouble selling season tickets, but we've sold out 8,000 which is the max available at the minute and the highest in 10 years.

You then say there will be more in the future...so you're disappointed we haven't sold tickets that aren't yet available? Interesting

Heard today on the radio there is a proposal from joint fan groups who are looking to form a group and build up funds to enable individual supporter groups to buy their clubs not quiet the same as what the OP has put on here but similar and interesting if it happens.

Isn't the asking price for Man Utd something like £3bn? Thats a lot of buckets full of pound coins!

It will work. But we all have to agree on who to buy

I thought a while ago it would be relatively easy to create more partnerships with local businesses whereby STs or match day tickets could be used for discounted services. Mutually beneficial and restores more local goodwill to the club.

I didn’t catch the nitty gritty but I got the opinion it was mainly EFL clubs and lower some perhaps saddled with dodge pot owners I expect there will be more to come on this.

I certainly think that once attendance level restrictions are lifted, that the club needs to massively ramp up its marketing efforts.

The club is pretty much anonymous within the city, and that should change now we are back where we belong.

Club and especially Tynan scope interested in any ideas around marketing especially if any of you have professional experience that you are willing to offer voluntarily
