Overall thoughts on the season (5 Viewers)

This division definitely separates men from boys .

I think we approached the season with the right intentions, to keep playing our way and carry on with the identity...but ultimately we found out rather quickly that the division, along with our players was proving to be a bit better than we invisaged .

Robins and viveash had a long period where they struggled to adapt to find out what's the best way to get results , tinkering with various formations and we did in many games try and nick wins , often succumbing to individual errors which I think was a huge problem this season .

We didn't take our chances either , which at this level is vitally important as we found out , we made it harder than it had to be, injuries played a huge role in our inconsistencies at times and we struggled to get to grips with the demand of game after game .

We rarely looked really poor , a handful of games where we were truly outclassed but we gave a good account of ourselves so many times and sometimes came away with nothing.

I think ultimately though Robins and viveash found a way when it mattered , we never truly were in relegation battle only really the one week which proved to be a vital week .

Mistakes were made , manager and players alike but Overall though lessons learned I think .

To be 12 points clear of safety in our return season can only go down as a job well done .

Can't wait till next year.

I hope we can push on and be comfortable mid table at the very least

We survived, reasonably comfortably, regardless of horrific injury problems and having to play every game away from home.

AND we have successfully negotiated a return to the Ricoh under a more favourable long term contract.

We have learnt a lot about what the championship is all about, and MR can now build on what we have learnt.

Overall, I'd say that was a good season.

Thoughts on the season ?

Beyond most people’s dreams IMHO Always going to be a ‘learning curve’ having come such a long way in a short space of time. Interesting that the ‘Gaffer’ looks at games over the season in blocks of 9, so with one left you plan not to depend on getting a result to survive.
In recent seasons we’ve got stronger during the later stages and this season’s no exception.

Adapting and not relying on a single system being the key to success.

All things considered you would have to say what a remarkable job Robin's has done. Now we must build our presence in this league with an eye to the premier league. Quite how that can happen under SISU's watch is very unlikely. I think SISU will have another season consolidating and back at the Ricoh with a much better deal than ever before, and they will look to sell.

It’s mission accomplished. An amazing achievement by all concerned and especially the players who really delivered when it mattered when the pressure was on, no more so than the last 4-5 weeks.
I would have been more than happy if we had taken it to the last day of the season and needed a win against Millwall before the season started but we smashed it out of the ball park.

A hell of a rollercoaster of a brilliant season where the management team have been on a learning curve themselves adapting to managing at the level.
Need to improve at both ends of the pitch next season but that's for then.
Off the pitch Sisu have got us back to the Ricoh on a 10year deal so improvement there but more needed.
But well done mark robins another season nearer the statue, and all the playing staff.

Fantastic season, the biggest achievement probably since staying up in the Prem years. Superb effort to get here in the first place, but magnificent to keep us here. Robins deserves all the praise.

Considering our injury list for the first half of the season especially the fact we have only been in the bottom three once for about a week is amazing. All clubs will have their bad luck and if only stories but we all know we have gifted about a dozen points away and counting yesterday have hit the woodwork 26 times. I am certain this squad will be tweaked and improve and I will be disappointed if we are not top half next season.

My overall thoughts are that I am genuinely shocked and proud that we stayed up. It was a big ask before the injuries to our big hitters.

A mixture of various strands really.
If we take some of our own naivety,
add in some optimism in the camp and confidence from a promotion bounce .
Then weigh in 4-5 purported behemoth teams , mostly from the Midlands struggling along carrying their debt packages,manager churn etc.
But it did take a 3 game winning sequence to halt what I felt was a slide into the shitzone.
That we did it with the injury situation as it was promotes the achievement further I think.

Think that would be a bit harsh for our second season. If we finish between 14-17th it would still be a good achievement. I would be happy with that, provided we have strengthened the overall squad during that period. Incremental steps for me.

Top half is being very optimistic. As Boddy said in the week it “baby steps” and if we finish 1 or 2 places higher next season then that will be progress. Anything else is a real bonus.

Competed in 99% of games. First half of season played easy on eye footy. Players gave their all and did us proud.

At different moments different players shined be it hamer o hare walker or mcallum.

And even fringe players made contributions to our pts tally in Wilson and Biamou

Dangerous to set expectations, but it looks like an extra 10 points would be needed to get into the top half, so we'd need to do what we did this season but turn 5 draws into wins. Not unreasonable.

I'm hoping now being established Lol (1yr) possibly we get a different mindset from ref's when it comes to pen decisions .
IE:- less against more for ,more saved ,better goalie etc .
Felt a slight sense of no sympathies to the new boys .
Reckon might have given us extra ten points on this one facet alone.

Finishing half way would be an achievement, but wouldn't it be great if we could be flirting with 6th place around christmas, we would need to be massively lucky with injuries etc,
And it would certainly give us a real exciting buzz around the place.
I know it's being massively optimistic, given our budget, but with a return to the Ricoh, great home support, and a couple of decent additions, the top half isn't too far away (imho)

Good season overall. We survived with something to spare and never had a fully fit squad to choose from. We didn't have either of our main choice strikers for months. It took time to adapt but we managed to.

We also missed a lot of very good chances, gave away loads of penalties, did a lot of defensive/GK errors that were punished so there's a lot we could improve on to push on.

However, I don't think we should get ahead of ourselves and start expecting even bigger things next year just yet. The teams coming up from L1 are arguably stronger than the likes of Wycombe and Rotherham so it might actually be a stronger league next year.

The return to the Ricoh could also be a double edged sword. Yes, we'll have the money and supporters back, but some of those same fans can also cause players to play within themselves if they get on their back if things aren't working out for us on the pitch.

Happy that we have stopped up with games to spare anything above 4th from the bottom is a real positive, strengthening in lots of areas required but that has been the same every season.

An incredible achievement considering:

- How many key injuries we've suffered;
- How many times we've conceded penalties or metaphorically gifted goals;
- How infrequently we manage to miss the woodwork once in clear-cut scoring opportunities.

If we weren't playing against ourselves we'd be top half. Amazing.

I'm not suggesting they will sell with what remains of a 10 year lease. Now they have clearly negoitiated an understanding we never had before, with added revenue treams etc and a 10 year term, that clearly indicates a new owner could well negotiate a much longer lease if they were to buy from SISU. That's what I expect will happen along with planning consent (outline consent at least) to the Warwick stadium project included.

Great achievement for first season back, but we need to upgrade personnel across the board, retain key contributors, get rid of deadwood, learn from mistakes made this season as well as get fitter and stronger over the summer. New investment would be most welcome if possible. PUSB!!
