Personally I think we shouldn’t dwell too much on letting JCH go. He doesn’t fit our system, otherwise MR wouldn’t have let him go (he does know more than us believe it or not) , and without him , we managed to win promotion. Plus, we have no proof that he does well at championship level.

What system? The system we played when he was with us, the system we got promoted with or the system we tend to play now? He doesn't fit any of them?

All of them, Robins likes a mobile striker who can put himself about but also presses and is good at link up play and i don’t think he is that kind of striker

jobello had never been in a losing City team until his sub appearance vs Forest thus season.

Callum Maycock has a 100% win ratio in our league 1 relegation season and Ponticelli had a far better goals per minute record than Mcnulty in our promotion season. Get Ponti back.

He was one of our highest earners. We couldn't afford to have someone on his wage on the bench.

Had we not offloaded JCH were wouldn't have had the funds in the wage bill to strengthen elsewhere. Ffs just give it up and move on.

I'd understand this thread had we got rid of JCH, and lingered in L1 or even got relegated. But, we got promoted and have two strikers who score goals.

Robins may have had his reasons to get rid of JCH and perhaps that was a blunder to move him on. But, his overall strategy for club has undoubtedly been a success.

You have no idea how Robins feels about how he'd fit into this system. We play 2 up top now, God forbid one of them has a happy knack of poaching goals.

Why are we still discussing a player that left two seasons ago?

Totally agree.

SBT in a nutshell arguing the toss over a striker who left two years ago, and is being promoted to the league we have been in for a season more.

And to be fair to Grendel jch has had two fabulous seasons at rovers and Peterboro. Proved robins wrong to let him go but surely robins has proved himself getting us promoted as champions and staying up???
Something must have gone on between him and MR? Don’t suppose we will ever know! However JCH has stopped falling over like a Certain Villa player and seems his game has improved.

A moot point. If he’d stayed he wouldn’t have had the opportunities to be the player he is now. You can blame Robins (I’m sure he does himself) but no one else saw it either, Bristol Rovers got lucky.

That said, quality player, wish we had him now. But none of what’s happened would have happened if he’d just stayed with us. He was hungry, willing to put himself out there to play.

Football is a funny game, the margins are tiny. A good run of games, some goals and confidence, can shape a career. JCH has proven that.

Well congratulations Peterborough and JCH. It seems he has finally knuckled down and at long last got his career up and running since going to Bristol Rovers.

At Coventry I was not impressed by him or perhaps a better discription frustrated by him. He obviously had talent but for whatever reason failed to unleash it? It was not just at Coventry where his form stuttered along where flashes of quality got lost amonst a lot of indifference.

But I am pleaeed he has turned around a career which seemed to be disapearing into the twilight.

Blaming Robins for JCH failing to show anything like enough to warrant being kept on here seems a bit daft. He had two chances to earn a spot at the club where he came through the ranks and didn't. That's on him alone. Comparing him to Biamou is a lazy straw man argument as well. Compare him to Walker or Godden - they're the strikers chosen instead of JCH, not Biamou.

Why is it lazy to compare Biamou & JCH ?

their both strikers 🤷🏻‍♂️ JCH left & he kept max & Baka it’s clear there were issues but he is better than them 2 even back then we all knew he offered more robins couldn’t get it out of him where other managers lesser managers shall we say have done

Let’s see who scores more next season out of Jch walker & Godden I wouldn’t be surprised to see JCH out score them.

Compare them at league 1 level JCH scored more than they did,we let him go for free then spent close to £2m on walker & Godden, again nobody seen that coming

Will be interesting because Peterboro will need to change the way they play, invest or go down. Like us with our open play. We realised to get points not plaudits less football was necessary. They will score loads and lose lots and will either push on and lose lots of games or change and not play such attacking football. To be fair I’d take jch scoring more than all our strikers put together if they get relegated and we stay up,

Well technically no he hasn't. In his career JCH has scored 82 in 227 in league 1 which is 0.36 goals a game. Walker has scored 19 in 46 which is 0.41 goals a game.

Walker's scoring ratio in League One is identical to JCH's this season & last season was better than both JCH & Toney. We picked him up for under £1m & yet some of our fans berate him & pine for JCH... Go figure.

I’m a walker fan but I think it’s the fact we actually let JCH go for nothing but again who actually thought he would go on to do as well as he has if anyone says yes their lying

Wait is this about JCH? You haven’t been paying much attention then have a look at his goals this year and then explain to me how he’s just a six yard box finisher🤣🤣🤣

How many of his goals were in the six yard box this season then?

For what it’s worth, I’m not too fussed we let him go. All’s well that ends well and all that. We don’t know what would have happened if he’d have stayed.

All I will say is keeping hold of Baka in the summer was a mistake as will keeping Biamou be this summer. I wish Robins would be as ruthless with these as he was with JCH, Stokes, Grimmer, Doyle etc
