Unless the budget is increasing I do hope not .... this team lacks quality.
It’s just finished 16th in the the first season at this level...what are your expectations?

Delighted with 16th but 3 weeks ago we looked like we were heading for relegation. You can’t allow a string final 3 weeks to mask that for most of the season we have struggled. It’s just finished 16th in the the first season at this level...what are your expectations?
But where will the goats come from?he knows that Hyam, Rose, Fadz, has not been good enough all season. He knows that Pask isn’t up to it ...
Allen, Shipley will go...
Biamou and Godden could go too.
one of the keepers will leave too
Goats? But where will the goats come from?

I want us to progress to do that we have to be prepared to sacrifice some good solid servants to create wages for new players.
you can't be suggesting getting Julian "the goat" Goater back, are you?? hahahahhahahahhahahahGoats?
As in feed the goats and they will score?
Boddy says baby steps and a restricted budget so I will be surprised if most of the main starters are not retained. MR has said or hinted there will be contracts for Jodie Jones, Kelly and he will bring in James. Wage dependent obviously. Also says he needs to address the goalkeeping problem, although that is more open to wider interpretation as he may have been talking about the defence in general. MR said after Cardiff, Max was well on his way to earning a contract. Then Oggy, who must be in the know, strongly hinted he will be leaving. Maybe a longer contract in a lower division. Hyam will surely stay after being virtually ever present and I will be surprised if Mc Faz is not offered something. Thought Sheaf was an obligation. Kasta, Jobello, Baka (see Instagram) likely to be told bye bye. Hillsner don't know but does not bode well how his Oldham loan turned out. Allen may not be here next year on his performances last season and Mason is surely a goner.
I completely agree. Allen may get a league 1 club, the rest a payoff I think. The problem with that is half the players you've listed are still under contract, we need to find clubs willing to take them to free up wages.
They will all be Robins' decisionsUnless the budget is increasing I do hope not .... this team lacks quality.

How does a payoff free up money unless it is less than the remaining contract? If it is less , why would the player take it unless they had another club lined up?I completely agree. Allen may get a league 1 club, the rest a payoff I think.

Yes, it's like scoring the winning goal in the 95th minute, people say the losing team were unlucky but the game lasts until the final whistle. But regardless we finished 16th.
Whether those strong three weeks you refer to happened at the end of the season, the start, or the middle, it doesn't matter - we won enough points to finish 16th

McFadzean hinting that he's going to get a new contract according to the Telegraph. Don't mind it as long as he's not starting 35+ games next season.
OK take the point. In a pandemic, it is going to be really difficult to offload players. At the moment, you can have nine players on the bench and we have some players in contract that are not troubling the bench and MR has hinted he wants to get rid. Lot of clubs trying to do the same. So what’s to do? Best case scenario loan out and the other club will pay their wages. Next, loan paying part wages, but still a tough one to arrange. Then you loan out, you pay the wages and hope their form improves so you can sell or offload on a free transfer. Most likely, you say they can leave on a free transfer and see if there are any takers. Finally, it’s the payoff, or cutting your losses. I’m not an accountant and not familiar with football finance but I assume it is similar to most business practice. Old Sky Blue would know. You pay part of the contract up in a lump sum. If accepted, you no longer have to make National Insurance or pension payments. Depending on the payoff, you can break even after a period of time and save money thereafter. Not ideal, but better than paying the whole contract in increments until it runs out. Used to happen all the time. Not sure if its an option during current times but may be a necessity. How does a payoff free up money unless it is less than the remaining contract? Would you rather be Bristol City who got all their points early and never looked in danger of going down? Or Blackburn who had short good runs and bad runs? When we got the points is irrelevant to who Robins lets go/brings in.Delighted with 16th but 3 weeks ago we looked like we were heading for relegation. Should do, last years was 3 days after end of season announced.Reckon we will get an update this week? It's usually pretty soon after the season ends from memory
I'd expect all those guys to be offered dealsSurely can't be many arguments over keeping the likes of McFadzean, Kelly, Hyam. We need a certain amount of continuity and these players have already shown they are good enough to at least survive at this level. Evolution not revolution.
Any thoughts on when list will come out?I'd expect all those guys to be offered deals
Suspect one or two have already been done and others are in negotiation
Can't be longAny thoughts on when list will come out?
Can't be long
I believe most of those being released have already been told
TerribleTough time for some of the young lads who haven’t got many games behind them having to find clubs who will be being extra cautious on handing contracts out.
I wonder how much being a ‘championship player’ affects the value of some of the players being let go. For example shipley has played 20 odd games this year getting 3 goals for a team that survived comfortably in the end. When you think how much emphasis we on here put on signing players with championship ‘experience’ when we went up. Pask and Allen would be the same, would it even influence a league 2 club to sign Thompson having played twice this season.Tough time for some of the young lads who haven’t got many games behind them having to find clubs who will be being extra cautious on handing contracts out.
It's funny how the upturn in form coincided with having an almost full strength team to choose fromDelighted with 16th but 3 weeks ago we looked like we were heading for relegation. You can’t allow a string final 3 weeks to mask that for most of the season we have struggled.
