Max is someone who has been with us from our very bottom to where we are now. A lot of our younger fans haven’t ever known success like the last 3/4 years so any player who has been on that journey is going to be regarded highly. At to that the fact he interacts with the fans superbly it’s easy to see why younger fans have a deep affection to him. I don’t see the problem with this at all and why people have to get their arse in a twist because people like Max i don’t know. He has also scored hugely important and often ridiculously good goals for us. Yes, to improve Robins needs to be ruthless and we have to upgrade on the likes of Max but there is absolutely nothing wrong with being sad to see him go

Novel thought - maybe the plan is to improve the team. Instead of Max as 4th choice it might be Godden next season?
Well we're defiantly going to need a couple of new players coming in up front as its a risk going into the season with just Godden and Walker given how many games they both missed this season.

Max has been an icon of our recovery from the doldrums of the lower leagues and played a big part in that. A fans favourite (apart from grendel). All the best Max and I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the clubs coming up from L1 take a punt.

So the end of Marmite Max. Will never understand the hate, limited player for sure but scored some crackers and put a shift in. Wish him all the best for his future, just hope he doesn’t end up at Sunderland or some fans heads will explode. Thanks for the memories Max.

Think if he returns as an opponent and scores, I’ll stand up and applaud. Like with McSheffrey.

The fact that a single vote went NO should concern us , who are these people View attachment 20075

Either really young or total mentalists!

I remember going a bit OTT in my praise of players. Telling people Huckerby should go to Euro2000, saying McSheff was the answer to England's leftside problems that sort of thing.

I appreciate what he has done at the club but all round him moving on is for the best. He will get a better deal in a lower league, he has had an odd career starting late so best he goes somewhere he will get games and the wages of a keyplayer rather than a 4th choice backup. Good luck to him and thanks for the bicycle kicks

Football is a business and sometimes hard decisions are made for progress or financial stability etc. On a personal level though, football is a hugely emotional thing for me. Watching City down the years has given me heartbreak and elation. Some of Max’s goals are tied up with my favourite memories, like his two in the play off semi final at Notts County, the scissor kick at Peterborough and the late equaliser on a grim wet away day at Newport County. And he just seemed to make the effort to connect with us more than other players. Unlike Mark Robins I have the luxury of letting my heart rule my head when it comes to the Sky Blues. Max will always be favourite of mine. Good luck Max and thank you.
