I dont rly thibk its a crazy statement tbh. Syaing Biamou contributed more isn't the same as saying Biamou is a better player. Other than some timely goals I wasn't blown away by walker and I want to see much more from him next season
I think that’s fair. It’s not a mark on their talent or ability it’s on their performance over the season and one had a real stop start and the other player up top on his own when everyone was out injured

Even though Walker had a stop start season, got injured, had covid, wasnt first choice and played in a team that doesnt necessarily play to his strengths...... he still ended up with a strike rate that virtually matched that of Luton's James Collins, who was supposedly in high demand and 30 years of age.

Nothing wrong with Walker might not be the next Harry Kane but in a stop start first season has shown he knows where the back of the net is obviously has to stay fitter but I think in a steady team he will deliver goals needs a good partner, could be Godden who also needs to overcome injury problems.

Take penalties out & Walker's strike rate was significantly better than Collins. He also overperformed his xG whilst Collins woefully underperformed his.

But he isn't from Cov so...

Also take into account he had 31 appearances but a lot of them he was either a sub who came on probably late on in a game or substituted so his actual minutes on the pitch is a lot less than the maximum he could have had.

Walker is a far better player, and I say that as someone who isn't part of the anti max sect.

I want to see more from Walker as well (and Godden), but I think injury and illness was the reason we didn't.

I agree, regardless of covid and injuries, the jury is still out on Walker for me. I'm not sure he contributes enough to our all round play for which our system is set up, and I didnt think his movement was particularly good. He did score some important goals though. Hopefully with a full preseason and injury free season we will see a better Walker, but I could see why Forest were happy to let him go.

I agree about the jury being out and have said so many times throughout 5he season, (again, I've said the same about Godden), but you have to think if they stay fit they would contribute more goal and improve our league position whereas I think Max had gone as far as he could.

No one is disputing that though. Just that it's not crazy to vote Biamou as having contributed more this season thats all

It is as statistically he had the most game time and contributed the least

Walker potentially looks very good, shows flashes of superb technique (Watford goal), willing to have a shot at target, tends to test the keeper when he does shoot. For a season where he had lay offs with injuries and Covid, never really got up to speed, I think he done well.

I would drop Godden to 3rd choice, and find a forward to get the best out of Walker. He could quite easily hit 20 goals next season.

Despite my avatar, I've got over it (not a paid up cult member) but why has a Liam Walsh thread got hijacked?

Coming back to the subject if the thread I think we will try to get both Walsh and James
Walsh never really wanted to go back to Bristol and James has been a very positive influence at the club
Think everyone accepts Hamer will likely go at some stage. If we could pick up a replacement that we know is decent on a free transfer at 23 years of age and it meant maybe we had a surplus of defensive midfielders until Jan we'd be crazy not to be in for Walsh and James.

It'd be stupid or us not to at least enter into discussions with both as they are likely to generate interest (James esp) and so neither are guranteed to sign for us. If we put all our eggs into one basket chasing one and they went elsewhere we could be left with neither. If they're both agreeable to joining I'd be tempted to bring them both in on a free despite the surfeit of midfielders it would result in.

Ideally getting Walsh and James would be good,Walsh might negate not getting James should he sign elsewhere for the money.

A Midfield of Kelly, James, Hamer, Sheaf & Walsh would be decent at Championship level for a team of our standing.

Would also enable Eccles to go & have a full season on loan at a decent, footballing League One side.

Cant see Hamer being here next season, (hope I'm wrong) and I think Eccles will end up ahead of Sheaf sooner or later.
