That's not even remotely true. He remains a dangerous man who, as he admits himself, should have been nowhere near power. He is the architect of Brexit so if you trash him you are admitting Brexit was built by a maverick.
It all demonstrates what we've known all along that we are led by donkeys.
Nobody who knew he was in the wrong last year has changed their minds about him. What he says is only to be believed if
1) the evidence we know about (or emerges in time) supports his account.
2) the counter points made by Boris fans falls apart.
What is obvious to me is that some people are so tied to being right about Brexit and Johnson that they will ignore the truth that we have a shambolic government.
Incidentally he made two points that, to me, were beyond dispute
- he called it crackers that people like him and Johnson were anywhere near power
- he said the system that gave us a choice between two disastrous leaders, Johnson and Corbyn, was catastrophic.
Great post.

It's still the care homes stuff that gets to me the most. Someone should face criminal charges for the way they let some of the countries most vulnerable people die by not testing before they sent residents back.

It's disgusting and, as you say, he should face criminal charges.

Telling the cabinet that people going back into care homes would be tested first and then… just not doing it. Was he lying about saying he was going to do it? Or did he just not get round to sorting it?

Either way, thousands of people died because of his (in)actions.

Yes if there is 1 thing nobody on this island should be protecting johnson over ... it's his initial handling of the pandemic .

It was catastrophic

Alot of decisions didn't make sense , and let's be honest ...he didn't take it seriously enough .

Again, I can't believe even Johnson said the thing about "I should be like the Mayor from jaws".

If he'd ever watched that film he'd know it was the incompetence of said character that led to people dying and the problem getting much bigger than it needed to be. Plus having a massive shark eating people trashed their economy. He's the villain/idiot of the piece.

Cummings comes over very Steve bannon like though doesn't he .

Bit of an oddball , dead inside , scarily careless .
And there it is.

CON + 12

On a side note , doesn't Cummings have any part to play in this as his advisor ?

Yes , I think the initial reaction was worst ..but as we progressed it became clear that shitlips was trying to find a balance between saving lives and making money .. again though failing miserably .

Yes definitely. He has admitted he got plenty wrong.

But seems to be claiming that it was mostly Hancock and Johnson that continually fucked up.

Problem is , there are genuinely millions of people that believe he's done well with this whole pandemic .

Even if the Conservatives are your party of choice , atleast call a spade a spade .
The only thing they've got right is the vaccine rollout, which to be fair has been exceptional

Yes the vaccine rollout has been an incredible success but there’s not much to praise the government for there. They put the money up for it, fair enough, but the running and organisation of it has been done by the NHS.

All that shows is that when the proper people, with proper skills and experience, are put in charge of things then we can do amazing things in this country. But when you put your mates in charge, with zero relevant skills or experience, and bung them a few quid for it (PPE, Track & Trace) it’s a fucking shit show.

Doesn't matter anyway. The government is pretty unaccountable these days and has no respect for the institution.

In 1990 Thatcher stepped down after winning a leadership poll because it wasn't by a large enough majority to show she has the support of the party. Now you can kill tens of thousands of people without regard and nothing will happen.

Hancock is toast at some stage in all this.

Definitely. My only worry is that he’s just used as the fall guy and everyone else gets away with it. ‘Hancock was the issue and we’ve removed him, so that’s the end of it’

Ultimately Johnson is the PM and the buck stops with him. But we know he’s Teflon.

If he did lie about all care home residents released from hospital being tested he needs to be up before a judge.

He’s 100% throwing Hancock under the bus.

Not just Hancock, Johnson is getting it now too.

If this is true then he needs to be hauled up before a judge too.
