It's a pretty shoddy outlet, but it's still the only title with any credibility at all which covers us on a regular basis. Without it, we have pretty much nothing. I honestly don't understand why people harbour so much resentment towards it, but most of the people who complain about the media are also its biggest and most passionate consumers, so I guess it's not really a huge deal.

It’s better to have nothing. They don’t tell us anything we wouldn’t find out otherwise

They released a story yesterday about Steven Pressley joining Brentford despite it being widely reported everywhere else 3 weeks ago. Really have their finger on the pulse don't they?

Pointing out its regular BS clickbait/listicles/news aggregation is good fodder for the cheap seats but doesn't really prove anything - I'm guessing you're also a regular reader, and for good reason.

Yes, it's a Trinity Mirror content farm with a few local journalists working in the background. And yet it's still the only dedicated source of news about our club. Would you rather it go out of business and we just rely on the offal for updates?

Bollocks and you know it. I bet you read the CT website regularly anyway.

Probs been on the website twice in my life and never bought the paper. No shock you’re tryna defend them though!

When Tom Leach worked for them was the only time I've thought they were adding a valuable contribution as he used to do some different and original content.

The rest of the time they either write stuff that's plain wrong, or stuff anybody using Twitter and following the general football accounts and national journos would see anyway.

No, I'm not a regular reader, for the exact reasons mentioned. I did whenTom Leach was there as the content was significantly better, since he left they've returned to type & I can't help but question just how much contact they actually have with the club.

Remember Transfer Deadline Day?
"Big news breaking on Max Biamou"
20mins later they posted rehashed comments from Robins from preseason about how he was prepared to let him go & other clubs might be interested in him... Literally zero news.

When did they last post something genuinely new & exclusive that hadn't already been reported elsewhere?

Again, there's nothing to prove in throwing their worst headlines at me and expecting me to defend everything they put out, because no-one would. Nor can I recall their last genuine scoop off the top of my head, although no doubt they've had them, because that's their job (even if they're not very good at it). I'm guessing you wouldn't have to go back far to find something they had which no-one else did, just because they're covering such an under-served patch - I'm not talking something that's going to win a Pulitzer, but team news nuggets etc.

Going back to the topic of this thread, I've no reason to doubt what they're saying about Walsh and Swansea, and I think there's value in them reporting that, even if it turns out to be inaccurate later on. The business model for local news is a shitshow, and as you've shown twice already, they're an easy target because they're such ramshackle operations that they have to stoop the lowest common denominator to generate traffic. But while it's good to expect better from them, I don't understand why people claim they'd rather have nothing at all - there aren't hordes of CCFC outlets waiting to fill the gap, and relying on the offal alone ensures that the club never gets criticized. And yet whenever I've stood up for the CT and all its problems, people are so affronted they think I must be working there!

I've genuinely stopped following them and their journos on Twitter because what they provide for me is worse than nothing at all.

I guess the acid test will be what happens with Ben Sheaf then.

Alan Nixon reported the Sheaf deal was done & our very own @better days confirmed it whilst, the very same day, Andy Turner posted an article with rehashed material from March admitting he hasn't got a clue about it.

Let's see who's right.

Imagine thinking the telegraph was a good news source for the club when most of their stories come from here.

I've been waiting for them to quote the Liam Walsh post wishing us all the best on here from one of their sources

Funny thing is, with the CT they have the ability, should they wish, to get the inside track on these types of things. Their credibility at present is akin to that EFL Zone 3 with 14 followers.

There's a man down our chip shop says he's Jesus...........
The actual words are, there's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis.
I know this because I originally thought the words were
There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he sells fish.
Hearing problems you know.
