So what is your case that sponsors won’t be happy? Pure fabrication, yes?

Not at all as there is no way on earth this could become accepted practice and the players all know it.

One in particular would love it to be but it’s never going to be allowed to happen

Nike have come a long way since they signed up Ille Nastase.
Don't know how their labour force are treated these days but imagine it's travelled some distance too.

So if every sports person in the world refused interviews and journalists had zero quotes and zero news items you honestly think that’s realistic.

If you are at an event you never watched an after match interview on the main court? Did everyone leave before the interviews?
I couldn't care less about quotes and interviews. They are mostly boring and embarrassing. I suspect most sports people hate them although obviously there are some like Federer who love them.

Yes I leave before the post match on court interviews and I am alone on that. Some stay of course but I doubt any of them would refuse to attend if they were told there would be no post match interviews.

Yes there’s a real rush to exit Wimbledon on finals day rather than hear the interviews

I’ve noticed that

None of them would have been there if there were no interviews?

I've been to finals at Wimbledon and French Open. There are matches after the singles final so have stayed for those not the interviews. Actually probably took a toilet break when the interviews were happening.

Why not allow those players who like the press conferences to do them, and be paid for them, but why ruin people's health for the sake of an interview?

The on court interviews weren't the issue. She was still doing those.

How could she? She said she was unable to conduct interviews full stop. That would suggest she just doesn’t want to fulfill her commitments rather than a diagnosed condition surely?

Djokovic would refuse and say it’s his mental health for a start

No she didn't. She did the on court ones. How can you possibly comment on her condition and what it enables her yo do or not do?

I can’t as I guess neither can anyone else without seeing a clinical diagnosis

My point exactly

Perhaps Boris Johnson has similar issues and it’s why he found sanctuary in a fridge but otherwise is bravely battling with pressdifficult question phobia?

The tell people he doesn't want to do them and then take the hit on votes or choose to do something else. As being an MP/PM is largely just about being a sales rep for the party/govt then you'd have to be stupid to consider it as a career choice. If you want to effect policy you'd be far better served being an advisor/think tank.

To be fair this whole thread shows you embrace capitalism and believe the wealthy earn it and should be bestowed exemptions and privilege - it’s something of a revelation

That's a hell of a stretch and diversion even for you. I've always said the problem with capitalism is that it's biggest supporters don't have any self control and just take stuff for the sake of having it due to greed, even though it adds nothing to them and it's just they can't bear others having stuff.

I believe 'some' wealthy earn it through their hard work and/or intelligence, but I think far more people that qualify to be in those brackets aren't wealthy. I certainly don't think people who have inherited wealth and influence have earned it or should have exemptions or privilege, yet they tend to be the ones most likely to achieve it.

But I do see your not arguing the point on the media stuff etc being done as a separate contract.

She’s the highest paid sports woman in the world and you have zero objection to work hard and have talent all the trappings of wealth are entirely justified

A real revelation and pleasing to see

As I said I've no problem with someone succeeding with talent and hard-work enjoying wealth from that. As long as they contribute towards society via taxes on that and don't use it to give themselves or their friends/family undeserved benefits/influence elsewhere.

Still no answer to the separate contracts for media.

Of course there shouldn’t be separate contracts - still I’ll hold you to the rest of what you’ve said 😂

Given that Ronalado removed the Euro 2020 sponsor Coca-Cola from the press conference and Pogba has done the same with another sponsor, Heineken, should they be thrown out of the tournament?

If the claim with Osaka it was the case that the sponsors were more important than a players mental health then surely the same rule applies?
