The clamour building from Arsenal fans wanting Daniel Eck to takeover just shows that as much stick as the current owners are getting for the ESL nothing will really change. They just want the next person with the open cheque book to come along and when they don't spend enough they will want them gone and any money they've put in written off.

Pompey are the best example of this. They went into administration in 1998, 2010 and 2012. A huge deal was made about the fans taking over in 2013 and a stable, self sufficient, future but just 4 years later they sold up to a rich American hoping he'd splash the cash and get them back up the leagues.

They were actually better before he came in

What was that strange monologue from Arteta?
Think I caught it on Sky last night.
Just seemed utterly incoherent,, I couldn't take it in ?

On the face of it I can see how some might see this as letting the clubs off
But reading the story carefully it seems the clubs have agreed that if they try something like this again they will be subject to points deductions and much heavier financial penalties
Tbh the fans of the 6 English clubs played an absolute blinder here
They can take 100% of the credit for torpedoing the ESL
Made me proud to be British :)

Still interested to see what happens with the 3 that are still hanging on in there

Can't imagine it'll be too extreme

Barca, Real & JUventus hanging on in there - having found a friendly court in Madrid :) Surprised we've heard nothing more substantial on these huge sums the PL 6 were potentially liable for when they quit ESL

The good news is the ESL is dead without the English teams.

they’re the money teams hence why the premier league is worth billions. The others have screwed their leagues over that much there’s little appetite for therest of the leagues overseas

UEFA should stamp on them and ban them from Europe they are all financially crippled so a fine adds little to their problems.

They don't even see the irony. Claim football is broken yet fail to see their role in breaking it. Huge transfer spending, ridiculous wages without the guaranteed income to cover it - 2 Spanish clubs still have wage bills well over 200 million with the imposed COVID reductions.

The joint statement from the Premier League and FA is interesting, they describe it as a gesture of goodwill, rather than a punishment.

They have wholeheartedly apologised to their fans, fellow clubs, the Premier League and The FA.
As a gesture of goodwill, the clubs have collectively agreed to make a contribution of £22million, which will go towards the good of the game, including new investment in support for fans, grassroots football and community programmes.

Barcelona and Madrid seem to have been the worst teams for tapping up or unsettling players and they would be prime for the same happening to them now but nobody wants most of their overpaid players.

Real Madrid, so ridiculously hard-up that the only way to alleviate the pressure is to join the ESL, have decided to offer David Alaba a 5-year contract worth €25m per year.

It's just insane. Really in what sort of world is a left back worth 500k a week? Very good player but he's a left back.

He’s played centre back for the last couple of seasons. With no transfer fee involved, can demand more than usual
