What I love about international tournaments is that you can’t just bring out the cheque book and buy in the players. Dealing with what you have is what makes it so compelling.

I don’t personally think Deshamps drops Benzama, Pavard, Rabiot and definitely not Griezman for their English equivalents. Ok Kane, maybe. And Pickford over Loris? Didn’t Loris captain them for a period?

I don’t think Southgate is any good but I’m also not sure if international football management is much about being a decent tactician rather than just trying to gel players and motivate them.

I’d love Jose to have it, he understands English football and knows how to build a siege mentality and actually win things. He’s still on the club gravy train though.
