Decent watch this game. The kind of quality match you want to see more of.

Germany could kill this before half time if they keep the pressure on.

They would destroy us with ease cut us open at will,we will limp to a draw with Czech and come second

Do you think French fans are all defeatist over their draw with Hungary? It could well be the case that Southgate’s caution pays dividends in the knockout stages.

The same French and Portuguese teams we’re fawning over are led by Deschamps and Santos*. Both are managers have been criticised for being too cautious before they led their teams to success.

* The one who managed the boring Greece team between 2010-2014.

Concerning that a Portugal that could easily carve us open apparently are losing to Germany. I fear therefore if we played Germany it would be over 3-0 in 5 minutes.

give me a cautious Southgate who takes us to the semis of every tournament he goes to over a gung-ho attack obsessed Keegan-type any day.

we’ve only ever had 15 managers (I was surprised by this), I think we need to stick with him. I wish he had more of a tough edge though.

In terms of our style of play, I’ve seen nothing that we couldn’t beat if we played an English way- intense, fast, direct (but not long ball). After all, the high press style- what’s that if it’s not an adaptation of a ‘traditional English style?’ It ain’t exactly Tika-taka is it

when was the last time you watched France and thought wow? I don’t mean their technical ability, I mean when was the last time you watched them and were blown away by the offensive, attacking style?

I might be wrong in saying this so apologies- but I think I’m right in saying we have most of possession these days. I don’t think I ever remember that being the case before- we’d have low possession and hope for a few chances. We’re not doing so bad and one draw v Scotland doesn’t turn us into total mugs

So it's only goal scoring parts of the body that can be offside?
To be honest mate, that’s what I thought it always was till VAR. And then they messed around with it. But I think it is just goalscoring parts of the body… could be wrong though!

Class game so far though. Even though it’s been Germany controlling possession, Portugal look sharp on the break.

It’s irrelevant because football is an outcome driven game. In all the tournaments Southgate has lead us in, we’ve got to a semi final.

That’s what Southgate will be judged on. Not meaningless qualification games or friendlies.

There's no denying Ronaldo his absolute class but I can't stand the way Portugal play , Pepe being the epitome.
They really are slime

Case and point being today. Created chances, didn’t take them, drew to Hungary.

Even against Germany, France looked in 3rd gear, which suggests that they were either toying with Germany, or generally weren’t all that sharp.

It’d be foolish to discount France despite a very disappointing result against Hungary. Likewise, you’d have to say the same for us.

As mental as it sounds I think England could with a fair wind, home advantage and a bit of luck beat either of these two. Will be a massive test but not impossible.

Would be more worried to face Italy and the organisation they have
