I'm probably thinking of past involvements with breaking teams down.
I think Henderson comes in for this one which will free up another forward
Can’t see him dropping the 2 midfielders,4231 with Foden & mount coming back in I feel

Agree, I don't think Henderson can come in unless there is a danger of Phillips or Rice being suspended for the Semis if they pick up a yellow. Although I think someone said that yellows get cleared at the quarters. Back to a back 4 with Mount in for Trippier/Walker and Grealish for Saka would be my guess.

I'm confused about this yellow card situation. I've heard they're scrapped but also heard Rice and Phillips maybe rested to protect them

When are yellow cards wiped?
Article 52.05
Single cautions from matches in the final tournament expire on completion of the quarter-finals. They are not carried forward to the semi-finals.

Does this mean a player cannot be banned for the final as a result of two yellow cards picked up during the course of the final tournament?
Correct. The slate is wiped clean after the quarter-finals, meaning a player can only be suspended for the final if they receive a red card in the semi-finals.

Well that's cleared that up. I can still see Southgate shuffling the midfield around a bit . Not sure 2x holding midfielders needed for this one

Its not really as much to do with their ability for me, I just feel like they always beat us, but having said that I totally forgot we beat them last time out...

What would be perfect is if we got to the final and Switzerland somehow manage to march onto the final... or would that be 'devaluing' our potential victory?

We have beaten them 16 times - they have won 5

3 of those Belgian victories came in the last four games we’ve played against them. I’m not very confident we can beat them, even at Wembley. Southgate’s current tactics give us the best chance though.

This Ukraine match could be a tricky one if we don't score early. They will be playing for penalties from the off and won't engage in any football in our half unless they have to.
Could be a frustrating evening.
Let them do it. Having seen all their games at the tournament they're very weak defensively.

Can’t get onboard with this overestimation of Belgium.

They're ranked #1 in the world (I know, I know), they beat us twice in the last tournament, and they've got a better goal difference than all but one other team in this one.

The last time we play Belgium at Wembley, we beat them.

Most of our squad in for the 2018 World Cup are sat at home watching this tournament. That’s how much our squad has changed since then. Comparatively, Belgium are not as strong as they were in that tournament. Despite that, still a very credible threat.

The team I’d be most worried about playing is Spain. They’ve upped their game after a lacklustre start.

Spain let a poor Croatia side put 3 past them. I think we could contain Morata and get behind them easily enough.

They beat us in a game we wanted to lose and a game we weren't arsed about tbf

ok, there's a lot of talk about who we need to be afraid of, and it seems like the answer is everybody :p

How about we switch focus onto how we beat them all?

* We haven't conceded a single goal
* I think we have the strongest bench in the tournament- Grealish, Sancho, Bellingham etc- I don't see any other team with as many game-changers on call as we do
* At some stage Kane IS going to switch it on, and when he does we have the striker with (I think) the best goalscoring record in the tournament
* Sterling seems to get better every game
* We have a settled, consistent way of playing that everyone understands
* I've never seen an England team with better team spirit
* Semis & Final "at home"

One position I worry about is goalkeeper. I think Pickford is quite a poor keeper, error prone and doesn't concentrate enough. I also think at times his shot stopping can be quite poor and he lets stuff in or pushes it out/spills it into dangerous positions far too often.

Not just aimed at you specifically SBD as there's plenty of other similar posts but just wanted to share this:

Pickford is prone to making errors, but during this tournament he has been on top of his game, and has made some outstanding saves.

Now the panic is setting in for some as every official on Saturday, except for the Spanish fourth official, is German.

I saw one match, can't remember which might have been Sweden or Ukraine with a German ref and wasn't particularly impressed , but I would personally trust the Germans to officiate our game., the acid test .
I did mention the other day we will need a good ref as my perception was Ukraine are overly physical.

Don’t want it to be seen as arrogant, but I think they’ll set out for penalties.

I think he might revert to a back four tomorrow in order to include another attacking player. I would like to see Sterling, Grealish, Foden behind Kane, but I imagine he will bring Mount in.

He might drop one of Rice/Phillips because of the suspension risk, but not sure which and not ideal if Henderson isn't fully fit. And I can't see him starting Bellingham.

Looking forward to it though, by now hopefully expectations are not for us to go gung ho, but I am hoping he lets the brake off a little more tomorrow, at least with the front 4, as we will need creativity to break them down.

Listened to a podcast this morning that suggested we won’t need as much control in the middle because Ukraine tend not to play through the middle of the pitch, so Henderson coming in for one of Rice and Phillips wouldn’t be too bad.

Would it be too outrageous to play mount as a #8 alongside Rice. Phillips has been playing a more box to box role than a holding role there anyway.

If they get booked tomorrow they’re suspended for the semi. They are wiped after this round yes but if you’ve accumulated 2 you will still be suspended
