I must be massively deluded. 20k for the first game in the championship in nearly a decade & the first game of any sorts that people can attend for 18 months?! If that’s all we get (restrictions allowed) it is shocking. I had, evidently wrongly, automatically assumed it would be a sell out or as close as it gets. Sure there’ll be a few who can’t make it because it’s a Sunday but there’ll also be a load who wouldn’t normally go wanting to attend due to the fairly unique circumstances around the first game back etc.

I thought the same and thought the only think to prevent this would be restrictions or increased concern about the delta variant that may make some fans wary.

Well there were only 7000/8000 of us at Blues, so we will need 15,000 of the principled stay always to show up.

I hope they do.

Think 20,000 turning Up not unreasonable to expect with all the reasons mentioned already any less I would wonder what the club would have to do.

There’s almost zero momentum behind this game at the moment, and that won’t change until the restrictions are lifted and the club know what they’re allowed to advertise. I thought this first game back would be a no-brainer sellout before the reopening was delayed, but with only three weeks between the reopening and the first game it won’t be as easy to drum up interest.

I still think it’ll be a big gate - there will be a big movement to pack the ground as soon as we get the green light to do so, there’s huge pent-up demand for events of any kind, and Forest will sell as many tickets as we can give them too.

Surely must be 25k at least for the first Championship game fans are allowed in watch for yonks. I know it's on Sky but so was the Gillingham game. And if my memory serves me right wasn't the gate 24k with very few away fans. If away fans are allowed in Forest will bring 3k plus for sure. Should be a cracking atmosphere. And we owe them big time for last seasons debacle...

Bring it on BIG TIME

There was 27000 against Gillingham with about 500 away fans.
I was disappointed that they've changed the Forest game to a sunday but slowly coming round to it.
For 1 it's not 12.30 ko and it will be a summers afternoon so will have a few in the flying standard in town and jump on the bus outside, got to be 25k for sure!

20K seems optimistic. What did we get last time we played them, about 20K? It being a Sunday and on TV will likely mean a lower away support.

Forest will 100% sell out whatever allocation we give them. We’re not playing the Accrington’s of this world anymore

Biggest reason is all the so called stay away fans that have used playing in brum as the reason,so now there is no reason now but to get up and support the city on there homecoming and fill it if allowed .

Quite a few families will be taking a break during this period (school holidays) plus a few who have bought season tickets will still be wary early doors re: personal safety. Even assuming no restrictions I think 20k will be pushing it (assuming non attending ST holders aren't counted)

If all restrictions are lifted then Forest will bring a full allocation of 6000, like Rexo87 says not many small clubs in this league, im sure we could muster 20000 home fans at least.

At the moment we have no idea if away fans will be allowed but assuming they are what makes people think its a certainty Forest will sell out their allocation? Last time we played them at the Ricoh was a non televised game and they brought 2K. Why would they bring three times that for a televised game?

they’ll bring a 1,000 max

I'd imagine forest will have away fans present

I'd be content with 20k

Forest average around 2000 over a season away in 19/20 season .. if allowed they'd bring 2/3000 plus opening day relatively local

It's not 2012 anymore dave , they travel well these days , usually top 6 or 7 in the championship over the season

It’s a TV game Sunday. At full ticket price I just can’t see 15,000 walk ups

I get that, but looking at it as a whole, it would be shite.

2 years since we last played in Cov.
18 Months since we last saw our team in the flesh.
New season hopes and dreams

If we cant muster pushing a full house off the back of that then maybe we need to come to terms with being a small club

Our fans love a bandwagon though. Once the restrictions are confirmed or removed I’d expect the club to be cranking this up way more and then you never know.

Agreed. People love to talk about how big a club we are but if we can't break 25k for our first game back in Cov in 2 years, which is also our first live Championship game in 10 years and the first game fans have been able to go to since March 2020 then it really is pathetic.

erm... because they haven't seen their team for over a year?

Big club, first game back for 18 months and an hour journey. I'd bet my mortgage on them filling whatever allocation we give them

They're a big club with a big fan base, less than an hour by car, a lot of there fans won't have been to Coventry arena before and an away football match for 18 months!

Is that based on the fact that you think there will still be some sort of restrictions? Surely they will near enough sell out.

I thought it was restricted to season ticket holders only

You say that but their away support has never been that impressive, I can't remember them ever selling 5 or 6k at the Ricoh. Thinking back to the Prem days at Highfield Rd they were usually a couple of thousand, not a sell out.

They average 2,000 - they have never - unlike Leicester - had a significant away following against us that I can recall and also the game is on a Sunday and on TV

If restrictions are lifted , there is no chance they bring less than 2000 , il place money on it I'm that confident

An average of 2000 over 23 matches is good btw

Yeah Forest won’t sell 6k here for a Sunday game on Sky. Only club outside of the traditional top 6 who could do that is Leeds
