Woakes showing again he should be in every version of the England side.

Test cricket the problem is he’s very average at best if not in England

Bit harsh, Not really been involved in overseas test side tours since 2017 Ashes when all the quicks were pretty average. England's overseas Test form been average at best for a while now.

Not sure if people are already aware, but Kate Cross, who took 5 wickets for England women last night, in the ODI v India, is the daughter of our very own David Cross, centre forward from yesteryear.

don't get these England one day selections. Playing weak opposition so get a look at some different middle order batsmen. Moeen at 6 isn't right. Billings smh.
It's nice looking at all the bowling options/combinations but we've not learnt anything new about those players - still a rehash of last couple of years. It's okay to say well Buttler & Stokes will eventually come back in but look around for proper batting cover if you do get injuries

England are having to select a whole new odi squad after an outbreak, Stokes to captain

What a complete balls up. Hopefully they really go young prospects rather than has-beens.
They'll need a bit of experience in there. If Stokes is in then you're probably looking for a couple more experienced pros, one high up the batting order and one bowler. I wouldn't like to bet against a call having been made to Anderson and / or Broad to see if they're up for it.

But definitely go with majority up and coming fringe players. Just have to manage them well so if they get hammered it doesn't do too much damage.

Be good for Woakes to get a rest. He's bowled 20 overs recently :)

Think there's enough interesting young batsmen worth seeing. Slightly more concerned about the bowling options.
But it is a test against a Pakistan side that can be very useful in 50 over cricket - certainly going to be more aggressive than Sri Lanka were.
Wonder whether Hales gets a call as well.

If Hain doesn’t get the call now he never will, I would also go for Briggs as a spinner. The keeper will be that joker that played in the tests. They will probably call up Ben Curran to make sure there is at least one Curran in every squad. Malan will be back in as well.

I’d have put Darren Stevens in, give the public what they want!
England's revised squad for PAK ODIs - Ben Stokes (C), Jake Ball, Danny Briggs, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Lewis Gregory, Tom Helm, Will Jacks, Dan Lawrence, Saqib Mahmood, Dawid Malan, Craig Overton, Matt Parkinson, David Payne, Phil Salt, John Simpson, James Vince

slightly underwhelmed. Would have looked at Hain. Liked to have seen Brook from Yorks in there. Like the Carse, Salt & Parkinson picks. But Overton, Vince, Gregory mehh.
Hope Briggs has a stinker - too important for the Bears :)

Right time to pick some brains.
This squad reminds of the sort of representative team that touring sides always used to play before the Tests (aside from their games against a few counties). Used to be a mixture of fringe players and a few vets.
What was that side called? Name didn't anything to do with the counties or England.

I guess it wasn’t Combined Counties
