Is anybody really going to get worked up about it? Let's face it if it was an England player people would be creaming about the "bantz".

People are too soft.

Maybe I’m wrong but I thought “it’s coming home” referred to the tournament (Euro 96), it’s only been warped into referring to the actual trophy recently

Indeed & the lyrics are completely self depreciating. I think the fact that it's just such an infectious, popular tune rankles some.

It does, but even that has been misinterpreted by outsider fans rather than England fans. On top of that it’s an extremely catchy song that we’ve sung since Euro 96

Go and read the first two pages of this thread if you want to know what his predictions are worth.
tbf, I fear we will... and my confidence v Ukraine was bang on.

Hoping I'm quite, quite wrong today, however!

When they did the '98 version that couldn't refer to the tournament and had to imply the trophy so the song itself transformed into one referring to winning.

No, it was always double play on the fact that the tournament was also at home. Nothing in the lyrics about the tournament being played in England, plenty about the lack of a trophy! And it's been used that way ever since.

What I dont get is the obsession with people only being able to say "It's coming home". It's as if that's the extent of their football conversation.

"Did you see the Italy goal?"
"ITS COMING HOME"

Calm down.

Saka in for Sancho, reports suggest. I’d imagine that’s to revert between 433 and 343 if necessary as Denmark have done that a few times in the tournament.

Lolz...we're in the semi final without conceding a goal...and yet the coach, who most intelligent observers acknowledge is doing a good job...'strikes again'!...

Great, I look forward to seeing the players parade their medals for the getting to the semi’s again👍🏻

Are you genuinely not enjoying the ride so far? This is better than any England team have done in my lifetime.
