Seems Bruno did well to create that goal.

Good cheat down out to Hussey and straight into the box for the goal.

If he does that around the box that is what we lacked last season.

'fans'?????

Judging them on meaningless friendlies.

Let's just pack up and settle for last and sack the manager like Newcastle did when they lost 7-0 in pre-season the year they won the championship..... Oh wait.

There was talk by one or two on here the other day saying they thought we would be unbeaten at the Ricoh all season.

I was more of the feeling that it wouldn't surprise me if we lost our very first game at home.

When Duffy said "Grimsby all over again" the other day, he took the words right out of my..nightmares. :(

i just think its going to be a awful season again and SISU will say they have invested even though they havnt !! thorn has no where to hide this season his tactics will be vital, although i do not think for one minute any player that has signed for us is his choice i think its more a case of waghorn n fisher saying its either these players or nothing your choice !!!

Yet people will claim the signing is a act of genius by Thorn if they turn out to be decent.

What? Cody didn't play up front? Why ever not?

That is ridiculous. The man's only skill is goalscoring! Even when he came on against Nuneaton as "the one up front", he was more in an inside-right position, making it 4-5-1-0! Yes I understand that Barce and Spain often play without a forward, but then, they don't hoof it miles up in the air to their midget players, do they?!?

We'll always have Hinckley. No-one can take that from us.

What ever horrors we have to endure this season, Hinckley will sustain our hope. :thinking about:

Oh I dunno, we had a guy who was pretty good at that until January..

Sheffield Wednesday 0-12 Alfreton Town

oh dear

couple of points

1) it was 14-0
2) it was at Alfreton Town
3) it was a Sheffield Wed X1, whilst at the same time, their 1st X1 was playing at Prem league Stoke, where they drew 0-0

not quite the same as losing 4-1 to a conference team with pretty much your 1st X1

No but is comparable to the 1-0 loss to Nuneaton on Saturday

Good Enough (Still) At this Level

Murphy
Clarke
Cameron
Wood
Hussey
Sheff
Thomas (although there's a debate to be had..)
Baker? (good at Stockport, but they were bottom, and he hasn't done owt here..)

Jury Still Out

Fleck (to quote a Scottish mate, "the standard up here is much, much worse than the English media implies!")
Kilbane (legs gone?)
Malaga
Edge
Brown
Ball
Cody
Jeffers
Deegan
Dunn
Bell
O'Donovan (confidence shot compared to his Hartlepool loan spell when he was on fire)
Pegg
Phillips
Garner
Roberts
I think you are doing some players there a disservice and I won't accept the quality of players as reason for doing poor this season

Deegan, Bell, Cody and Ball all have played a decent amount of championship football
Kilbane played for Huddersfield an Derby last year
Brown was on loan to Oldham
Fleck was on loan at Blackpool
Also you have missed out Elliot who has a lot of experience in various divisions from prem to SPL

Sorry, forgot Elliott: see my Fleck comments.

Deegan, Bell, Cody and Ball have all played a decent amount of Championship football: yes, and aside from Ball, who was good (against us..), they all have issues regarding being proven in L1.
Deegan-not good enough at Championship level, incredibly inconsistent. Even at this level, you need to be able to pass 5 yards and run over 5 MPH.
Bell-pretty much a train wreck after all the injuries, certainly half the pace he had when he was last in L1, not exactly a "physical" player, even when his wife asks him to "be rough"..
Cody-good in L2, unproven in Championship or L1. He will do the business IMO.
Kilbane-yeah, but he's another year older. Many are the quality player who played on a season too far and dropped off a lot-Sansom being a personal CCFC favourite. He's another year older and has had injuries. Not exactly a physical player, either.
Brown-looks rubbish to me. Where did Oldham finish last year? Did they go up?
Fleck-and was mostly on the bench. He looks fat and dis-interested, so I'm sure Eastwood fans will enjoy him!
Elliott-can't score in Scotland, won't be L1 standard.
Ball-a youngster considered not good enough for The Championship first team yet doesn't mean he is a proven L1 player. He's never played there. And he looks dreadful to me.

Yep, let's sack our manager after a pre-season game, we all know those are the most important games of the season! I mean who need to see how the team performs in a competitive fixture at this level. I could pull up constant examples of teams losing pre-season games to lower league opposition and doing fine in the coming season but why should I waste my time when everyone of this forum has already condemned us to failure.

It's not really pre-season though is it?

It's just a sad continuation of last season.

If only Big Fat Racist Ron was here to tell us about that time that he was Man U manager and they won all off their pre-season games then lost all their league openers..if only.

Mind you a few weeks ago NLHWC said that Fleck was going to be our best player by a country mile.

however, it is all relative, he may very well be!
