Thorn should resign - TONIGHT (10 Viewers)

The Sales Manager where I work is crap. Great sales guy but can't handle man management. It's significantly harder than most think. Some people therefore shy away. Some folk stay away for a while and then give it a shot. Maybe Thorn's in the latter category? Like the Sales Manager I elude to? Maybe he'll improve?

He just needs to be given a fair shot to succeed or fail. Then we can judge him. But not after a couple of friendlies and a troubled season like last, surely?

As I want him gone I dont want him to have a chance as my view is he will fail but I could be wrong. What I do find odd is why people who I assume have been supportive are now turning after a friendly. That I do find odd.

he has a 21% win ratio !!!!

Thats over 10% worse than when Strachan was in charge of us.

And 6% better than Paul Lambert who was sacked - too early - by Livingston. Look at the fortunes of both parties since they looked at 'win ratios' and nothing more.....

Lambert had nearly half the games Thorn has had though didn't he? So should we keep losing and being relegated on the off chance Thorn may become a decent manager? He may well become amazing this season and I hope he does! :)

I hope we've got our next manager lined up because Thorn does not have a chance. As soon as we lose the fans will be calling for his head. Then we will call for the next man to be given time because stability is important. Then we'll lose a few games and the whole process starts again.

By Thorn's words the tactical side of training has been going on for a week or two now. Last night suggests that has been a royal waste of time.

Our last four matches have not suggested we are anywhere near to turning the corner though as I repeat 'We still haven't got the core necessities in place'. If you haven't got the capability to run at teams or have someone with a little finishing nous then you offer nothing. I think the club has decided to rely too much on McSheffrey and this could be a disaster, he can play a role but is half the player he was 6 years ago. People rave about Thomas but he's just a kid and isn't creative enough anyway. So who will put their foot on the ball and make the incisive pass, who will receive it and attack at pace and who will be on the end of the pull back to finish???

Oldham beat premier league champions Man City last night in a friendly..........who gives a shit about friendlies ? The exact same people saying thorn out are the ones that will be sucking his dick when we beat Yeovil convincingly on opening day.

£50 says that has never been sucked in its existence. £100 says it never will be.

Start of this thread is a joke. No Andy Thorn should not be sacked or walk away after some pre season defeats were the team and system has changed. Its a bad friendy result yes with a good few first teamers performing badly but Coventrys season starts on day one fixture 1 of 46 no sooner than that> pre season friendlies throw up crazy results all the time so dont rtead to much into it. people giving new lads stick for poor games when its there 3 or 4th game for the club. if after 10 games things are still going badly yes we can reassess and ask for Tjorn to go and if thats the case i will be backing Thorn to resign. i will not over react over some pre season friendlies in the same manner as the board wont and most importantly the manager and players wont. Biggest problem is who replaces Thorn? carsley lloks set for that and i think thats a disaster waiting to happen.

I would rather lose all our preseason friendlies that mean nothing than one that does. What does changing a manager do yeah we always go on a good run but it always comes to a halt and followed by a losing streak, do we then do it again and again. Get real to whoever started this crap, we have no money and he is doing the best he can.

The only times we haven't changed our manager when it's been obvious that they're doing really poorly we've been relegated.

The best he can isn't good enough, and hasn't been for some time.

To bring in journeyman players that no one else wanted (becoming quickly apparent why) has cost SISU nothing - in fact with outgoing players they are well into profit from transfers and saved wages but to change manager would cost SISU money so thats simply not going to happen - end of story.

The thing is, people keep saying the majority rate Thorn and want him to stay.

Is that honestly the case?

Might be worth doing a poll monthly to see whether people are slowly deciding they rate him....or not...

If the options were sack him now / let him start the season, I think the latter would win. If the options were Thorn is the wrong man for the job / the right man for the job, it may well be that the former would win. It may be that the former would always have won, but several people miss the point and keep battling against the minority view (i.e. Thorn is the greatest Premier League Scout there has been / the best manager since Jimmy Hill / he has had his arms amputated / SISU take 100% culpability and the manager is blameless). Argue with the lowest common denominator, you will come across as 'winning' despite missing the inference of what is written just about every single time.

I think we should let him start the season but no more than 10 games in, if we are failing badly then we can't take the chance this year, he has to be replaced or revenue will fall off the scale.

Enough is finally enough.

5 goals were scored tonight - NONE by a coventry city player.

He has been given far too much benefit of the doubt.

If he had any shred of dignity - he would resign TONIGHT.

THORN MUST NOW GO - BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!

I feel your frustration, BUT, it's far too soon to panic. Let's see the outcome of the first few League 1 games. The Sheff Utd game will be a good indicator. Lose that game badly then the pressure will be on. AT has brought a lot of new players in and they need time to settle in. It would be foolish to bring another manager in so close to the new season having not given the current side a chance. A new boss would want to bring his own players in, which would be unfair on the new lads. They wouldn't have been given a chance.

Relegated to League ONE FFS - PRESSURE IS ALREADY ON!!!!

Your right, the pressure is already on, and maybe getting rid of AT might alleviate some of that pressure. Football usually works that way. You just can't get shut of a manager pre-season though. Give him at least a months worth of fixtures at least.

I dont rate thorn but at least give him a couple of league games! It could be a genius tactic to fool the opposition!

Hang on Nick, a couple of games, are you serious?

He's either got to go now or we have to give him at least half a season (by which time it might be too late). My own personal feeling is that we should get shot of him, enough is enough, let's start again now we are in the 3rd Division.
