Any less than 15 points - Thorn should get the boot imo.

As I have said earlier I think he should and will achieve that though - I am going to say 16 points, four wins, four draws, two defeats!

Maybe two wins to be had I would think.

2 wins, 4 draws, 4 defeats.

That will keep the Thorn pot bubbling along nicely.

Could be 30......could be 0.

Will go for 20. 6 wins 2 draws and 2 defeats.

Think you're going to be pissed.

Think too many people's aspirations are too high.

12 for me, haven't been impressed with the preseason football or lack of tactics, more of the same from last year methinks.

When you take the Sky Blue glasses off, we lost our best players, still have many of the players who failed miserably for us last year and have brought in replacements who we have no idea at all whether they will make the squad stronger or not.

True but I am of the belief this is a poorer league. Also home form last season was more of a muddy table club from January.

The real question is how will we perform away from home.

12 to 15 is my guess.

Anything less than 13 is an abject failure, 14-16 will be acceptable but we will need to kick on after that. 17+ will be a very good start

I want play offs, mid table is nowhere near good enough this season

Middle table club!

A bit of "science" needed first:

A Yeovil Town: W 1-0
H Sheff U: D 2-2
H Bury: W 2-1
A Crewe: D 1-1
H Stevenage: W 2-0
A Tranmere: D 1-1
A Shrewsbury : L 0-1
H Carlisle: W 3-1
A Oldham: L 1-2
H MK Dons: D 0-0

There you have it:

P10 - W 4 - D 4 - L 2 - F13 : A 9 - Pts 16

A nice steady start to the season lying about 7th/8th in the league ready for the Sep/Oct onslaught up the table.

Nurse..........

Not wishing to jump on the Thorn thing all over again, but I only think top 6 would be possible with a really good manager at the helm.

Glad you said that but I agree. A real enthusiastic passionate leader could make all the difference.

The Andy Thorn Preservation Society will stop that.

I guess in the end if we want a 3rd rate manager that's all we deserve.

My predictions are

Yeovil (A)- Draw
Sheff UTD (H)- Lose
Bury(H) - Win
Crewe (A) - Draw
Stevenage (H) - Win
Tranmere (A) - Draw
Shrewsbury (A) - Draw
Carlisle (H) - Win
Oldham- (A) Lose
MK Dons- (H) Win

16 Points - 4 wins 4 Draws 2 loses + a win in the cup against Dag & Red

Long hard season ahead of us with the first 10 games returning a maximum of 15 points. Don't get your hopes up folks as yet another winter of austerity and discontent is just on the horizon.

So if we are top 6 you say AT is a very good manager?

Talking end of the season not first 10 games here.

Just can't see us doing it under Thorn.

Guess it all depends on how the season pans out. If we finish top 6 but a number of points are lost due to perceived mistakes by the manager I might then be saying that a good manager would have us top 2. Not moving the goalposts here, even if it seems I am. Just saying it depends on how the season pans out.

We do really well but then throw points away in certain games due to the manager's decision making then I don't see my being able to say he is a good manager. In that circumstance (as with last season) I will be saying a good manager would have more points on the board.

For me he made many mistakes last season. Just can't see that he has learnt so much so quickly in order for him to be suddenly considered a good manager.

Also, it very much depends on the new players, the players Thorn has brought in. They do really well and he is going to look really clued up and it will reflect really well upon him. They fail and it's another thing for fans to throw back at him.

In answer to your question, the answer I can give is based upon so many factors that I simply cannot say that top 6 would make AT a good manager I'm afraid.

For most on here they are expecting top 6 anyway, whoever was at the helm.

So if we bring in another manager he will do well to get us in the top 6, but if AT is the manager some will be looking for reasons to still call him shite?

So AT will make mistakes, but a different manager wouldn't?

The last couple of quotes show that however we do he will not be good enough for some. No clean slate or anything.

The season has not started, but I am defending him for this seasons results?

Don't wish to go back to last season's mistakes yet again. You know that I felt some of the mistakes were not just mistakes but very, very embarrassing school boy errors. True shockers.

What I am saying is that we could well finish top 6 under AT and I might still feel he's not a good manager depending on the circumstances. Can't see how I can say otherwise.

If we finish 6th and I can see that we should and probably could have have been top 2 then I can't see how I can say AT is a good manager.

If we look midtable and he somehow gets us to the top 6 then I will be first on here to give him praise for that and I will see him in a different light.

I cannot foretell the future though, so only when it happens will I be able to give you an honest answer.

If the players he has brought in are really good signings then we should be expecting top 6 whoever the manager is shouldn't we?

My stance is that the position we are in and the fact we got these players for nowt probably means they are not as good as we are all hoping them to be. Just hope AT has unearthed a couple of gems here.

I think we will struggle this season.
