where would he play? Who’s he going to replace

Which is exactly the wall I hit when I was thinking about it. His style of play and attack we were missing going forward, everything first half was disorganised and rushed. If I had to choose, maybe Waghorn.

He will only start if we play the box formation, so mostly I'd imagine away from home

I don't appreciate the finer points of football, happy to trust those in the know to make the magic happen and just follow the team and try to enjoy the ride. Today, blimy. Going from almost dispair at half time ... to the absolute bliss of turing it around and winning in the dying embers - it did the homecoming plus the memory of Curtis proud. F'k me, this was another emotional ride that has been my experience of being a City fan. This club will be the death of me one day but I'll thank them in advance for it being so eventful.

I'm telling you I travel everywhere with city and I haven't seen too many home fans as vocal as we were today in the country

Maybe that's because our away fans are also loud as fuck and drown them out 🤣

we’ve never managed to keep it up and that’s been down to our displays- decent results at Barnsley & Blackpool & there’ll be a feel good factor for Reading, and then we’re at the start of something- the club has come so far & the one thing missing is building the crowds and atmosphere in the CBS- get that right and we’re really onto something

Comments saying Walker should start. Could be a positive move (can't believe I said that ???!!) but having Wagz and Vik up front doesn't work. They are too similar in playstyle. Wagz has the bulk to be able to hold the ball up so could work as a good foil for Walker to run on to. The combo of Vik and Walker works in the same manner, as the end of last season showed.

But I disagree with all the comments about DaCosta. At least he smiles when he's on the pitch ;) :p

He was poor today, but tbf to him he had Dabo playing RCB behind him who was having a shocker, and Forest were playing like a 424 with their 2 wide men pinning both fullbacks back. He was better 1v1 defending than I thought he would be, but was really poor in possession today.

Agreed, despite a good result we were very poor for the majority of the game. Papering over cracks that need to be filled still, but we have time to.

We really weren’t. Average first half (as were Forest) and decent second half with an excellent last 10-15 minutes. To say we were poor is just unfair. That was more than adequate for an opening game performance.

Ah, just saw the poster. I’ve been reeled in.

Really? I didn’t see the first half as average at all? We could have been 2-0 down and I don’t remember any chances of not. Maybe the majority is unfair, but up until the subs we didn’t look like scoring

Didn’t think we were at the races first half sloppy all round the pitch but once Robins shored up the back three at half-time we were a different team, MacFadz improved and Rose unusually on the left side was solid. by all accounts this Clarke-Salter is a done deal which should improve us, left sided too would love another, Ostigard ? can but wish. We need our defence rock solid.

Hamer not his best game today just kept over hitting his passes, Sheaf I thought was excellent most the game.
Waghorn and Gyokeres partnership needs time thought Gyo got stronger as the game progressed I think he in time might become our main man up front.

Don’t know how but Robins needs to find how to play Jones and O’Hare in the same team from the off and then if Bright plays as we all know he can how to get him in too.
Nice delema to have.

Overall I was settling for a hard earned point they certainly edged the first half but we were well on top second and got stronger.

All last gasp wins have an element of luck about them but I remember last year so fuck ‘em.

I don’t know mate I suppose I just have a different view of what constitutes “very poor”. 3-0 down at half time without getting out your half is very poor. Largely matching a team (a well established one at this level) but for one or two chances for them I’d class as average. As for the second half we simply were not poor.

It was always going to be the case but the fact is unless we are blowing teams away from the first whistle too many on here will be overly harsh and premature with it at that.

So many of you lot are the armchair sort sat behind who you can judge after one game and move seats because of them.

Think i ahead someone from here behind me today, jumping on Sheaf every chance he got. As soon as the attendance was announced “won’t even be half that next game”. And I doubt he was making an observation about the League Cup crowds.

As will happen every…..single…..match thread.

Im really glad to be back in the stadium as I don’t check on here until HT and then FT. With ifollow I found I was reading as I watched which is about as good for the soul as Facebook 🤣

looked once and saw someone calling people c*nts for not agreeing that the signings were all shit & saying how they’d been proved right, left it alone then 😆
