Hamer and wing backs played well.

Hyam pretty bad.

O'Hare a shocker.

Gyo, no idea why he is near that penalty

Generally not bad. I think we were better than Sunday. Worrying lack of ability in front of goal.

O'Hare ran them ragged but his end product was dreadful.

Hamer stepped up in the second half. Dabo looked the most composed I've seen him since his return from injury.

Sheaf was very quiet and we were far better when he was replaced with Allen.

Gyok penalty was dreadful. So obvious where he was putting it.

How we didn’t get something from that is beyond me. Got to say I fail to see what Waghorn brings to this team. Someone needs to enlighten me.

Moore 7 He looks very assured

Hyam 6
McFadzean 7
Rose 7

Dabo 7 Gave their LB a miserable time of it. Very encouraging.
Hamer 6 Poor first half, much better in the second
Sheaf 6
Maatsen 6 Clearly talented, especially going forward, but seems closer to Giles than McCallum at this point

O’Hare 6 He creates, he pouts, he shoots half a mile wide, classic COH

Walker 6 Movement excellent once again
Gyokeres 5 On another day he scores twice and he’s the next Adam Armstrong. Instead…..yeah. Why sign him/start him if you wouldn’t back him to score a penalty?

Waghorn 5
Clarke-Salter 6
Allen 6

Moore - 7: So good to see a keeper claiming high balls. Long kicking needs a little work but good to see him release the ball early as well and pulled off a great save. One slight thing, and a bit of a double edged sword, is twice now this season he’s been very quick out of his area (good), when the defence probably had it under control.

Hyam - 6: Played their man onside and cost is a goal, but his use of the ball was much better playing on the right. Kind of messed up his bit of the FK routine. Generally OK but I think I’d drop him for JCS when Rose is fit.

McFadz - 8: Should’ve have a goal from the FK. Excellent at the back, got on the end of everything. Looking like proving me wrong about his ability to keep going two seasons in a row now. Also one of only a few players to get in the refs ear. Worry when he finally does run out of steam, I’d love to see a younger version brought in to understudy in an ideal world.

Rose - 6: Looked OK but is totally neutered out on the left. Keeps having to check back onto his right. Think he’ll be class at RCB.

Dabo - 7: Had his LB on toast first half, looked to get forward we’ll. Got bogged down a bit by their tactic of crowding him out at times. Still feel his final ball could be better or he could drive into the area more. Has the ability to beat a man. But so good to see him getting back to his best.

Hamer - 7: Subdued first half, excellent second half. Good set pieces generally and showed for the ball a lot.

Sheaf - 6: Struggled with the press at times but also played some sublime balls.

Maatsen - 7: Outstanding going forward and generally uses the ball really well. First time crosses were excellent and seems to be building a great understanding with O’Hare in those right areas by the corner of the box. Scares the life out of me defensively though. Not sure I’ve seen him win a tackle yet.

O’Hare - 6: 8 on the ball, 4 for his final ball. Absolutely hacked and battered all game and his movement showed up most of the forward line. My nans got better finishing ability and she’s dead though. Really poor pass selection at times, worse than usual.

Walker - 6: Looked really on it while he was on gutted to see him get injured. Hope he’s back soon.

Györkeres- 6: Would be a 7 without the miss at the end. Holds the ball well and uses it well. Unlucky not to score first half. Going to be a really good player for us.

Subs

Waghorn - 5: Just don’t see it. Nothing in the air, doesn’t beat a man, movement is nothing to write home about.

Allen - 6: Won the penalty and looked busy as always

JCS - 6: Good intervention to prevent a really good chance. Hope he starts next game.

Agree with all of this I think.

Think with waghorn I don't think him and Gyo can play together effectively. They both naturally were going to the same balls and same positions, not playing as a two. But as it stands Gyo has offered more so far. I think Waghorn will be a good addition just don't think we will get the best out of him partnered with Gyo.

He ran rings around them at times. They ran out of ways to stop him.

Or just ran out of players without yellow cards to their name ? He's got to be one of the most fouled players in the league last season and this.

Got to remember how far we have come since this time last season. We were nervous, timid and very passive in most games, the goalless draw with Barnsley last year we created nothing apart from one chance. We already look more confident in ourselves and have more belief that we belong and yes its frustrating not to win, let alone draw but we are creating chances and we keep doing that we are going to have a very good season.

Exactly,
If the penalty goes in, we are happy bunnies. It’s very slim margins at this level, we dominated the second half and did everything but score, we hit the woodwork more than any other team last year, and we’ve done it twice now already. We are creating chances now, and we just need to be cooler in the box and then the goals will come.
On a plus side, we have Godden, Kelly and a new LWB to come into the squad, Salter looked good, And Bright and Jones are getting fitter,

So what happens to Barnsley having amassed 8bookings.
Does the ref get hauled over the coals, does the refs body take note of the data on who gets mullered most in games and dissiminate the info to other refs for briefing prior to games?

They'll get a fine and that's it.

The ref will likely have been assessed, and will have to provide a report on the game, which will be reviewed. Doubt anything will change.

This is about right for me give a take a point or 2. Hyam a 5 for me. His positioning cost us the goal and he also almost cost us a second by diving in when out wide. Dabo possibly an 8 & Allen was actually a positive influence off the bench despite me questioning the sub at the time

Fanky was back today
Hamer decided on the hour to start being the boss
O'hare got targeted 2nd half but just doesnt stop running and causes jitters in the opposition
Salty - start with him next game, looking forward to him and Maatsen on that side

Allen brilliant for the pen.

The pen was nowhere near as bad as you lot have made out. Should score but low reasonably well hit. Such a shame

Didn't look well hit at the match to be fair. Can't help that everyone rushed down to the front right behind the goal. Would find that really off-putting.

It was a very poor pen. Nowhere near the corner, nowhere near hard enough. Here's the screenshot of where the keeper get his hand to it.

haha literally just started a thread saying this almost word for word! It’s like a new signing. Side note I heard JCS saying that Fankaty kept texting him telling him to come as they were at Chelsea together. Good to hear

also he ran across to protect O Hare when he lost his head. Need that character who protects the younger lads.

On Moore - he’s so good at coming out and dealing with crosses. I takes no prisoners and flattened our own defender, think it was mcfadz
