A light bulb suddenly seemed to go off in Hamer’s head yesterday and he looked a lot more like his previous self in the second half. Not sure what was said to him but he needs to channel that and keep it going, some brilliant tackles and the distribution was far better.

it was a bit like that with him last week as well, needs to impose himself much more, he's clearly very capable at this level.

I'm not sure me , I think Kelly looks after the back line better than both hamer and sheaf and tends to do more of the dirty work .
His distribution is below both that's a fair enough point .
Yesterday sheaf put in a feable attempt of a challenge to allow the pass forward for their goal ...piss poor you could say so there's a balance to be had ... do you want 2 good ball playing central midfielders or do you want a gritty warrior to complement your ball playing midfielder .

One thing that was always clear is when Kelly is I'm the side it allows the other midfielder more freedom ..that's fact .

That goal conceded yesterday was down to O'Hares piss poor pass, was it intended for Sheaf or Maatsen? Put Sheaf in a difficult situation

Still work to do after the pass , sheaf put In a challenge similar to what I'd see at u10 level .. he simply has to do better there

What challenge are you on about? The only time Sheaf is involved is trying to recover O’Hares awful ball to no one by diving in, what are you suggesting he should’ve done?

It’s a absolute joke the lengths people go to to blame him for anything to justify their opinion. Not O’Hares fault for playing it to no one under no pressure? Not Hyams fault for playing their man onside? Not Fadz for having the touch of a brick wall just before and inviting pressure? Not Maatsen for not even attempting to go for the pass that was to him? No all Sheafs fault for not stepping in and fixing everyone else’s mistakes.

laughable.

That's no joke watch the challenge , he lunged in half hearted when if he engaged his brain the best thing to do would have been to get close to his man and make him make the pass .

All he did was nudge it on perfectly for the pass to be made inside and he was not in a position to recover and the hole was created

If we are being totally by the book then we should have had a freekick about 2 phases earlier and that wouldn't have happened to begin with

Hes a decent lower league player. He’s not Championship quality and quality is what we need. If we’re relying on Kelly we’re in trouble. Need to get out of the “L1 club just happy to be here” mentality TBH.
I’m pretty sure Robins and his coaching staff don’t have that mentality. Given the success they’ve had here they have a winning mentality and want to improve year on year, which unless you’re an utter moron, every sensible person can see that we have

shmeeee mate - I actually agree with your analysis on singling out players for blame - quite often the finger of blame is pointed at players who are at fault only for covering for mistakes made by others.

equally it's kind of ironic that you accuse others of bias when you go to great lengths to build fairly myopic cases against players that you don't like? and most frequently take a half glass empty approach against the team.

balance is needed on both sides.

He tried to poke it to Maatsen because despite being far closer Maatsen didn’t even attempt to go for the ball.

Why no criticism for the others? Why is it all Sheafs fault? Golden balls had two men less than five yards in front of him but played it to no one. Moore failed to close his angles. Fadz poor touch brought the pressure in the first place. There’s at least five mistakes more egregious than Sheaf not giving up possession and trying but failing to keep it.

Confirmation bias in spades. The kid can’t do anything right. “U10s”. Have a word with yourself.

I think some people on here confused footballing ability with how much they like a player or how they’ve done for the club. It’s not personal, it’s inevitable as we progress as a club we need to replace the players that got us there. That’s how we progressed.

You’re not immune to this yourself though are you, you were doggedly trying to convince everyone that Moore was garbage before he’d even played a single minute

I said he was a gamble and explained when asked by the likes of you why I thought that. I’m glad the gamble looks like paying off.

When asked how Moore’s got on I’ve said he’s done well, I’m not here two years later looking for anything I can find to justify my opinion am I?

100%

1) It was a shit pass from O'Hare to no one.
2) Its nearer to Maatsen who doesn't even move to it or attempt to go to it
3) Sheaf has to slide in to attempt to poke to to Maatsen as its a shit pass
4) Hyam drops 4-5 yards deeper than the rest of the centre half's playing him on.

So do you know better than Mark Robins then? Yes he is otherwise we wouldn’t get in the team after this long at the club.

Bizarre rationale. In case you couldn’t tell, we’re on a pretty strict budget that hasn’t stretched to cover all of the areas MR has indicated he wants to improve - his words, not mine.

It’s no attempt at a witch hunt, but Sheaf’s defending for the Forest goal was also pretty naff. So I’m not so sure about him being a fast player.

no, you banged on for days. You might well turn out to be right, but don’t try and take the higher ground saying you’re immune to slating people without real evidence.

Why is that bizarre? Players like
Jobello and Hilsner can’t get close to the first team. Why’s that? Clearly the management team including Robins doesn’t rate them so off they eventually go. Kelly has been with us years and always falls back into team. That’s as good as a sign as anything the management team think he’s good enough and last seasons stats suggested so.

He’s getting on and he’s injury prone but I think he’s good enough and so does the club.

It was, but he was outpaced and already on a yellow so couldn't foul him. Even thay goal what the hell is Hyam doing? They have possession and he is completely out if position, leaving a massive gaping hole in behind him.

Its easy to blame Sheaf as he is the one doing the recovery run.

Like who?

I would imagine clubs similar to us in the championship would be keen when you take in account what his attributes are compared to fee and wages. If I was a bottom 6 club and he became free, as long as he could get fit, I’d take him on a 1/2 year deal all day long.

What is it you don’t rate about Kelly? I’m interested to know.

If O’Hare takes his chances and finds his passes their goal is irrelevant, his end product is awful

I don’t think he would be a target for other clubs in the Championship but he would be for those in League 1.

????

Because he was slower than a pacy forward or because he didn’t take the red card?

Come on, such a spurious argument. He would be the first on the team sheet because he is a leader and a fine player. I know that you are a glass half empty chap, but when we have won a league and consolidated in those two seasons, using the recruitment argument is frankly stupid.
Grendel isn't a half glass empty sort. He has a hole in the bottom of his glass.

Why is the standard response nowadays “do you think you know better than Robins”?

I don’t think Kelly is up to Championship standard, and I don’t see the huge issue with this. I’ve done a quick stats comparison between him and Ryan Woods (random average Championship midfielder) and whilst his interceptions are better per 90 mins, his passing is appalling.

Can't believe people are trying to blame Sheaf for goal yesterday, some people really have it out for the lad

Not really , the people that love him think that .
He looked brilliant in his wolves cameo .. hasn't yet taken it into the season.

Tries to be too cute too often , it's been said by so many people it's really hard for us all to be wrong
