We will be fine. (3 Viewers)

No Kelly is key to our squad. If people couldn’t tell the difference he made to our team last year they were watching a different game. Kelly with either Hamer or Sheaf we will be a lot better and more balanced

I love Liam Kelly for everything he's done for us but I hope he's behind Sheaf and Hamer in the pecking order this year.

If we're starting him it would likely be because we're in a relegation battle and we need that lower league grit in the game. The other two, when on form, are players that you'd expect to be in a mid-table team.

Just find it hilarious you ask others for stats given your constantly ill-informed arguments.

As for your 'career on here' - I sincerely hope that your real life career was considerably more successful because honestly your time on here has been marked mostly by failure and nonsense.

His atrocious pass completion rate for a CM mostly. I think what Dreamer said is fair. Decent enough to bring on when you’re defending a lead an need someone to kick it into row Z no questions asked.

He isn’t the best passer of the ball, you’re right.
Overall, he was probably our best defensive midfielder and that is his primary role.

Had we signed Matty James, that would’ve been Kelly’s replacement. We didn’t and the search continues - it’s really not that simple to go out and sign a player to replace your captain.

We are still looking to sign a CM on loan too so our recruitment isn’t complete in that department either.

I thought we were after 1 more and it was a LWB

That’s what Robins has said. Sheaf is clearly Kelly’s replacement. We don’t play 3 CM, and we’re clearly after a loan so I don’t get this idea we are still looking for Kelly’s replacement and not just a loan to cover while we’ve got injuries.

It’s just this weird thing people have that they can’t accept Sheaf as a player. Just like when they were all pretending we hadn’t signed him.

Iirc Sheaf's defensive stats were as good as Kelly's but his passing is on another level.

I like Kelly but there were times last season where his limitations were really exposed, not to say he can't do a job but i don't think he'll necessarily start as many games as he may have done in the past.

That said, depends how we go but the signs from the first two games are that being dominated in midfield is not a problem at all.

I think Sheaf and Hamer are his preferred starters but over a 46 game season MR will be looking at Sheaf/Hamer/Kelly as his any 2 from 3 CMs for the season. With all three fit he has competition for places and reliable cover for suspensions, injuries and dips in form.

Yes, and Hamer will be suspended at least once

Pfffftttt
I am sure you are aware that both Sheaf and Kelly are Coventry City players who I want to succeed. I believe that Sheaf has started well and deserves his place atm. I also recognise that Kelly has been pivotal to our rise and we were a better team with him in the side.
Three games in doesn’t make a career and I still believe that Kelly is the man, however should Robins choose Sheaf I hope he is brilliant.

I’ve looked into this and Sheaf had some impressive stats. However, Kelly’s overall rating was better than Sheafs - 6.74 to 6.60 iirc.

Sheaf had injuries to deal with last year so I’m hoping he can elevate his game that much more this season. I like him and think £750,000 could be v good value.

For me, Kelly is the default starter but he will be out for a while so Sheaf has time to stake his claim.
