Jake Clarke-Salter's Left Foot (6 Viewers)

I know it's very early days for him, but the fact that he is able to release the ball with his left down the channels could make a huge difference this season. The number of times the out-ball down that side (even just this season) is not quite right (either too close to the middle, too far behind or in front of the players or just scooped into the air) is noticeable. When he came on yesterday he played one pass which cut their defence apart. Could this be a missing link? Could it prove invaluable in getting the most out of Maatsen? I guess we'll have to see...

100% it’s the missing link, even better he’s gonna be next to Maatsen who I felt was brilliant yesterday.

And the way he just took the ball off that Barnsley attacker as he was about to shoot, not bigging him up too much too early but looks the business to me.

Yes that was brilliant. Calm as anything, just nipped in and took the ball away. Also, I know he's 6'2, but he looked like quite a unit in our back line.

I will be interesting to see what we think after 10-15 games. I was amongst many city fans who wanted Ostigard back, but could this prove a shrewder move after all?

Obviously only got a limited look at him yesterday, but he looked a level above the others, would have been nice to have osti on the opposite side as well.

I did too and still think he will be superb down the middle centre-half but I think JCS will help McFadz to be the hairy arsed centre-half we need for another season.

Looks like he has pace which we were desperately lacking at the back at season as well.

Sam McCallum must have been green with envy watching the balls Maatsen got played compared to what he had to deal with last season.

In this made up scenario Sam has an ifollow season pass
I agree .. Hyam dropped Sam in the shit a number of times

It's all well and good being left footed but his primary task is defending and he didn't do that very well tonight. Got done two or three times and Moore saved his blushes in the first half with a good save.

Just to be clear, I am NOT writing him off. I'm sure he's a good player and that he was just finding his feet tonight.

You’re NOT writing him off but mentioned it in at least 2 topics

You realise there's a difference between saying 'he was poor tonight but I'm not writing him off' and 'he's fucking shit why did we sign him'?

One of those is writing him off. One of them is commenting on his performance tonight.

No I didn’t realise the difference, thanks for your clarity, you are very kind. I do understand a clean sheet and victory so I don’t feel the need to keep mentioning negatives on the night of a good performance and result.

So we just say everyone was equally amazing? He wasn't being critical like people were about Waghorn or Moore before he'd even played

He joined on Thursday. How many training sessions? Two? Two and a half?

Just enjoy the away win, he will have better games. I thought all our back three were exposed at times and not necessarily their fault.

Started more attacks tonight than Hyam did all season.

His defending will improve when he gets used to his teammates, playing in a three and our style. He looks better in his first game for us than Osti did.

Did he? Must admit I can't remember Ostigard's debut too much but I thought he did well?

I don’t think he played much last season for Brum? Not even been with us for a week.

A few more training sessions and games should see him improve.

Was a solid performance but you can tell he was a little rusty. Will be a good player for us.

Sorry for the late reply but I’ve spent an hour rereading my post to find out where I said everyone is equally amazing. I didn’t. So your point is what. My point is, if you read it, when we win we still concentrate on the negatives.

Really not. Plenty of positive comments too. No one is saying he is terrible just he didn't have a great debut.
