Decent penalty box player, limited elsewhere though

He has other good attributes also, only had to watch how well he did at Swansea to see he's a good striker at this level. Of course he's limited in some areas of his game? He wouldn't be in the championship if he wasn't.

Sheffield Utd look awful
West Brom pressed the hell out of them and totally nullified anything they tried to do. Compacted the game right up and choked their ability to play.
They are Barnsley (obviously same manager) but with even better and more physically imposing players!
Will be tough to stop.
One thing I noticed from the quest show this week too... and the WBA game tonight, was the amount of goals/chances that long throws into the box create!!... loads on Saturdays highlights!... Shame we haven't got that weapon this year.

Rhian Brewster is a very good player at this level, there is clearly something wrong at Sheffield United. Think Jokanovic was a poor appointment to be honest, didn't seem to fit in with what Sheffield needed.

Last weekend was very strange, starting 4 out and out strikers in the same team.

I have to say fair play and hold my hands up and to derby and Rooney. Not a bad start for them all things considered.
So a two time promotion winner who has managed a club for 3 games is a poor appointment but fair play to Rooney and Derby for winning a game?
Balance needed.

couldn’t tell if Sheff Utd were dire or WBA brilliant, but either way I think Sheff Utd will struggle to get back up based on the couple of games I saw of them, which is annoying as I can’t stand them & want them out the way

Can’t see Hughton lasting too much longer, heaps of pressure on him now

WBA weren't brilliant, lacked possession, very few passes, but thier style, executed as it was, with what they have, will cause massive problems to their opposition.
Sheff utd, at the moment, do have the players to change results round. Do feel a few didn't want to be playing tonight.. although hard to tell due to the ruthlessness of WBAs style.
Think once the window settles, SUFC won't be far off.

West Brom are doing what Barnsley did with a better squad, they'll go up. Sheffield U need a win quickly as they are utterly bereft of confidence, could turn into a terminal slump

Keeper has been disastrous
Reckon the lad won't get much sleep tonight
Who'd be a football fan
Two seasons back Sheffield Utd fans were in la la land
How must they be feeling tonight?
In their usual fickle style they're blaming it all on the bloke who turned them from league 1 also-rans into a top half Prem team

They've turned on Fleck as well now

Still confused why so many pundits had Forest going for top 6

Shit last year, added no-one. I don't get it. Think it's probably the Houghton effect. Don't get me wrong, I rate him as a manager but he can't just take the same squad he had last year and all of a sudden make them world beaters.

why didn’t they sign anyone, are they strapped for cash or did Hughton just not see a need?

Did anyone see the Charlie Austin headbutt in the QPR game? Expect he'll take a 3 game ban so won't be available against us.

They look really good this year.

Just watched the highlights the young lad keeper for Sheffield United had a shocker. So glad they didn't keep Moore as he would be in heir team right now.

What I like to happen is for relegated teams to not go straight back up (as per Bournemouth last season) The only down side is that it increases the amount of teams receiving parachute payments in the league, which makes it harder to compete. Wish they'd bin that off.

Can you read? I said he wasn't the right appointment for Sheffield in my view.
I think he's an okay manager especially at this level, however Sheffield United were/are in need of a complete rebuild, and his appointment seems like a desperate attempt to bounce back quickly, rather than an appointment to reset the club, which is what it needed after the turmoil from Wilder leaving in pretty bad circumstances in the end.

I said fair play to Rooney as a separate point, as I have said in previous threads how poor a manager I think he is, and how much I thought they would struggle but actually they have been competitive in all 3 games so far and so based off the evidence so far, yes it is fair play.

See I always thought they’d struggle. hughton for me is a decent manager but no more. Give him a squad that is top 6 and he’ll achieve 6th. No more no less.

there’s something wrong with Forest, and he isn’t good enough to overcome that

I don't particularly rate Hughton, either. Does... alright for a spell, but plateaus. He's a bit like a Steve Bruce, give him a moderate budget and he'll organise your team, make them effective, but seems unable to progress beyond the initial efforts. If you've a good enough squad, that'll mean he's a safe pair of hands for a promotion challenge, but he won't turn an OK squad into a good one.

And Forest don't even have an OK squad.

They’ve signed 3 players, Zinckernagel, Horvath and Osei-Tutu. Their fans are turning on the players but mate of mine was saying it’s the way Hughton plays that’s (part of) the problem. Very negative and they never look like scoring or seem set up to score.

Whenever I hear city supporters talking about an.outside chance of the play offs I quickly dismiss it out of hand, then I remember Swansea got their last season.
